So,what rust bucket car should I buy?

It's gotta be cheap,it's gotta be running.

I need a truck, love El Caminos, then again I could buy a cheap truck that runs and get a 68 Camaro, then I watched the original "Gone In 60 Seconds" from 1974 and I like the fake Mach 1.

It has to be a manual not automatic.

But I’m 65 and what the heck would I do with it?

Restore it then give it to me? ;-)

.
You don’t want a ‘74 mustang ‘Mach.’

I had the very first one delivered in California.

Looked fine, but was a mechanical disaster.

It wasn’t a real ford, it was really a German car, with a really delicate engine.

I got a six fo, also

Was a 283 when new, a previous owner pur a 327/250hp in it so it's technically not numbers matching, but looks original. If I had a dollar for everyone who asks me if it has hydraulics... ;)

I think 1964 was a great year for muscle cars. Some beautiful, quick, cars were cranked out then. Any B-body Mopar like the Dodge Polara or Plymouth Fury. Ford’s Galaxie was sharp, Pontiac with the Catalina and Tempest, Mercury’s Marauder. Just an all around great year for styling for the car companies. Might be a little tougher to find em with the 4 speed, but they are out there. Boy, if I had the money....

You Should.

It was a beast.

It belonged to Joe.

You will never find another like it.

That link doesn’t matter.

Joe earned it.

It raced Nova 357 and even Goat Man. I’ll let the lurkers figure that.

That Grenada was the gateway to everything to get away from.

My allegiance is pure.

Your 67 was cool!

Spend some time looking, and find one that is NOT a rust bucket. If you fix up a rust bucket you still have a rust bucket.

Take it from someone who used to fix up rust buckets for a living.

Dude this is the only time I will say this and 35 years ago It never dawned on me I would...........

Mad Jack and Goat Man are very good people. I am their friend.

You as a matter of fact made a large impression on them.

They expected MB to break-out into a Janis Joplin song at anytime.

Back in the 60s you could tell what kind of engine a car had from the outside.

If it had a 283 it would simply have a (V). A 327 would have the v with racing flags. A 396 would have the same with the (396) numbers above the V. Same for a 427. If it was a six cylinder it would be plain. It seems like I remember a wide V symbol with a gold background on the grill on some Chevys. I think it was associated with the 327.

Ford had a similar set.

My first car was a 73 Vega. It had been my brother’s, and it did start rusting the minute he drove it off the lot. The steel oil pan never stayed sealed with the aluminum engine block, so it leaked more oil than a BP well. For some reason they put an air conditioner on it. If you tried to run it and came to a stop light, you had to put it in neutral and give it some gas or the compressor would kill the engine. I actually got a girl to go on a date in that heap, and while going around a corner, the passnger door flew open, almost ejecting her. She declined to repeat the experience.

The second car was a 72 Ford Mustang Mach 1. Much better, except Mrs. Henkster hated it. She was glad when it was stolen while I was at a Cub game at Wrigley Field.

“Fun to drive? 67 Volkswagen, easy to work on and not too hard to find”

6 volt, me like.

I’d love a nice little Baja bug with an unbreakable suspension.

Cosworth Vega. What a waste of a Cosworth.

Late ‘70s Lincolns are the best.

Love the Marks but my heart is always with the supremely underrated Town Car. Magnificent cars, with the look to match the reputation. Few cars since the ‘30s ever matched the presence, the masculine handsomeness.

Our original ‘79 is still rotting in the drive, unfortunately. I loved that car. Don’t know that we will ever resurrect it.

I could have sworn he drove a Matador.

I had a Matador once upon a time, with a 302, if I remember right. Great car. I think it was a '70.

One brother dumped the Vega on me; the other one had the 72 Pinto. A Pinto station wagon. Five speed, burnt orange. I envied him because he had the better car.
