Why did you sell it?
“Why did you sell it?”
If you have the dealer do the work, changing the transmission filter and one quarter of the fluid was $900 dollars. That happens every 45k miles. The timing belt needs to be changed every 100k miles and that was $1300. The DSG clutch failed and needed to be replaced at 100k miles. That cost $1700. There were essentially no owner serviceable parts other than an air filter and a fuel filter. I changed my own oil, but even that is difficult and the oil for the TDI was $10 a liter.
So, at 110k miles the DSG again started making noise. The car had decreased in value from 2010 from $28000 t0 $7000. Although it still ran great, at a minimum I’d have to spend almost $5000 to go another hundred thousand miles, most of it towards the end. The maintenance costs would then be close to the value of the car, meaning they wouldn’t be worth doing.
I sold it and bought two beaters in very good shape with the same money. I never looked back.
Plus, it was too small and I felt beaten to death on rutted roads.
We won’t even get into how the dealer cheats and tricks you into buying stuff you don’t need. The dealers are close to criminal.
