Britain's Chris Froome won a third Criterium du Dauphine title on Sunday.

Fellow Briton Stephen Cummings won the final stage from Le-Pont-de-Claix to Superdevoluy, but it was Froome who added to his 2013 and 2015 titles.

The Team Sky rider had opened a 21-second lead heading into stage seven and held out to win by 12 seconds from Frenchman Romain Bardet.

Froome won the Tour de France after both his previous Dauphine successes. This year's edition begins on 2 July.

Runup to Tour de France. Froome's a very interesting guy - grew up in Kenya and South Africa with very little formal training. The guy's resting heart rate at waking is 29 beats per minute. He's been compared to the Kenyan marathon runners who have also enjoyed great success on the international circuit.

Brexit up 10, Scruton knighted, Froome wins the Criterium due Dauphine. UK is on a roll.

Well, you spoiled the ending for me by announcing the winner in your title. Some of us watch it on delay and like to be surprised. Perhaps next time you could leave out the winner’s name until the body. Still, glad you enjoyed it and are so enthusiastic.

Mea culpa. I just copied the title off the BBC webpage. Still well worth watching, to see what happens to BMC’s Porte. It was a great stage with a few surprises that had GC consequence.

Next time I’ll do a spoiler alert.

Thanks—that’ll be great I haven’t even watched Saturday’s yet. I DVR them so I can skip commercials and speed-watch long boring segments.

Yes, talking about bike races is like talking about movies. “Spoilers” is a simple way to notify the reader.

I have learned that listening to Vin Scully and the Dodgers is still fun even after the game and the final score is posted.

Pro cyclists are amazing: huge hearts, massive lungs and the best bikes in the world.

I’ve been listening to Vinnie since ‘58. Absolutely one of a kind, and a better human being than an announcer. But apparently 67 years is enough...

If you get the chance, catch stage 7 today of the Tour de Suisse. As an aside and without spoiling anything, it always amazes me to see those paved mountain roads with no guardrails.

Ouch! Nice tease! Thanks for remembering me and giving this tip--I'll set my DVR. I'm not as fanatic as perhaps you are about watching these bike races--I watch the Amgen California Tour and the Tour de France, and this is the first year I paid any attention to the Dauphine, but until your tip I was going to skip the Suisse altogether, especially since the US Open is on.

I imagine you saw the TdF collision three or four years ago when the passing idiot car driver catapaulted the bike rider into the barbed wire. And I seem to recall a rider died not long ago by going off a cliff.
