THE PUBLIC cannot look at WHAT IS ON his phone.
The police may be looking at (what is on) the guy’s phone, if they physically HAVE his phone.
But can you look at the guy’s phone?? Can you see the names on his call list, or whatever else? No. You are not physically in possession of his phone.
But you do have access to THE INTERNET, via YOUR device. So if/ when the police release the perp’s NAME, anyone can GOOGLE that name, and look for him on the internet.

Well .. while I have my voicemail password protected .. there is nothing to stop people from reading my contact list; or who I made the most recent calls to, or received calls from.
I have a PHONE .. not a computer for a phone.
And .. your “sigh” is condescending and insulting. You do NOT know everything .. as you suppose.
