Yeah, from what little I have read about her this morning she seemed to be a very nice, talented, young lady.
Exactly. Or we look for something the victim of a crime/accident/tragedy could have done differently, or some way we are different ("My child can't drown in the hot tub because we don't have a hot tub."), because it makes us feel a little safer.
It's not "blaming the victim" per se, just a psychological defense mechanism against entropy.
Her family moved with her to California. She was performing in Orlando FL. She and her family were members of my church in NJ. She loved God. Her family are amazing folks. Not rich, just hard working. I am still in shock.
This year Orlando has had a rash of nightclub and drive-by shootings, with and without motives. Cops have caught most of the perps, but not a week goes by (so it seems) without killings.
Just last week there was another murder in the Bumby area by a fleeing burglar who broke into an elderly woman’s home and bludgeoned her to death.
She was from Marlton, right? we must be practically neighbors, Cherry Hill here. I used to watch The Voice with my wife and remember rooting for her because she was a local. This news is really sad.

So were the members of the other band at the show, Before You Exit. The members are young Christians, and their response to Christina’s death refers to Jesus.
Their music is not overt Christian rock, it’s just clean bubblegum pop with very subtle Christian undertones that the listener might tune into, or might not even notice.
I’m wondering if this might be an anti-Christian hate crime.
The cops let slip that the shooter traveled to target her specifically. But won’t release shooter’s name.

I don’t know. They are releasing very few details right now. Pray for her family, please.

The family is still trying to get over the shock. So am I. She was so sweet. There was no darkness in her heart. The family are such good people. God must have a purpose in this.

Way too much evil going on these days. I see the Dark One’s handiwork in too many places now, and this is just one more example of such.
