Tesla Model X’s panoramic windshield was one of the biggest ‘surpise feature’ unveiled at the production launch in September last year. In previously unveiled prototypes, the Model X was featuring a normal windshield, but the production version is equipped with a panoramic windshield extending all the way above the driver and front passenger seats.

The feature, combined with the structure of the Falcon Wing doors, makes the Model X’s passenger compartment truly unique, but some are worried about the replacement cost since the windshield is one of the most at risk part of any vehicle – and rightfully so it seems

I sure would like to have me one of those Pacers. Or maybe even an AMC Concord.

Saw this article and thought of it immediately.

Rode in one once. Visibility out was indeed quite excellent.

Great concept car overall. Just not very well executed.

Somehow I get the feeling that there won’t be many Tesla X owners in Phoenix or Flagstaff.

OK, so on the Tesla, what do you do if you’re driving at sunset/sunrise & the Sun’s in your eyes. Where are the sun visors???

What was the car AMC made after the Rambler. (I had a 66 Rambler Classic. Loved that car!) I think it was 1967. The Hornet maybe with a large back window.

the Pacer was probably a better car than the Tesla is. You could work on it in your driveway, and the parts were nominally priced.

Not a big deal. Anyone with rain sensing wipers is looking at $1200+ to replace a broken windshield. There is plenty not to like about these POS cars (government subsidy for instance). Why pick on something as trivial and nothingburger as the windshield.

Way back, a roommate got picked to drive a Ford Taurus for week by Avis or the like.

I didn't like the tunnel vision in the rearview, among other things.

Ford Taurus? Isn't that when all cars started to look the same? (mid 1980s?)

“Who could forget The Pacer?!”

I almost bought one of those back in 1979, I needed a car real bad. Then my cousin sold me his ‘69 Camaro.

Nice! Bet you wish you had the ride now. I wish I still had my 1973 Chevy Impala. 350 engine and all kinds of room. Huge trunk. I sure miss those days!

Nothing a little tune-up couldn't fix:

I wish I still had several of my old cars. I had to sell the Camaro because I was going overseas. My folks sold it to a college student after I left, they said he was very happy to get it.
