Well of course you do.

It’s our monthly overdose of division.

How else will we be kept in a state of chaos, if we are not beat about the head and shoulders, periodically?

The last African born freed slave in the US died about 1930. In the lifetime of our parents/grandparents. Not so long ago.

We stopped importing slaves from Africa in 1805. So unless one of those slaves born in Africa was more than 125 years old in 1930, I think your statement may be false.

That Woodstock acid messed him up, though.

The illegal slave trade existed up until the Civil War. There was a community down in Alabama I believe made up of Africans trafficked to the US just before the Civil War. Last one died about 1930.

Good question. Why aren't there more good movies about successful black people?

Because, sadly, films like that don't make enough money. Which is too bad, really. I happen to like inspirational movies.

If you really follow Snoop, you will find a very conservative guy who really thinks about real issues. I have always liked his honesty. He can be a lot like a stoner version of Charles Barkley.

Wow, from Roots to 2016...the African-American has come a LONG way. Their upward mobility and success in the USA can be characterized by his own words:

I can’t watch none of that shit.

I watched the original "Roots"

Of course, at the time I didn't know it was a badly written piece of plagiarized fiction; it was presented as history rather than fantasy.

I would watch the remake if they gave the slaves light sabers to fight off the Galactic Master Empire.

Slavery was ‘normal’ for most of human history, no matter what color your skin was. Almost every country on earth had slaves. There were multiple versions of it too, like indentured servants. America was the first country to do away with it.

Today it still exists openly in muslim dominated nations.

He has coached his son's football team. Internet lists his Net worth: $120 million USD (2016).. Snoop is laughing all the way to the bank. Bob Marley got brain cancer from all that marijuana so Snoop should watch out.

Next, a series documenting a homosexual branch of Alex Haley’s African relatives:
Froots.

Like my husband says, thousands died in the Civil War fighting to free the slaves.

The only positive movie I’ve seen was the one about Dr. Ben Carson.

“The spread of melanoma to his lungs and brain caused his death. His final words to his son Ziggy were “Money can’t buy life.” wikipedia

You are correct but the brain was involved

“Or he’s ashamed at how ridiculous the current generation’s complaints look compared to what their ancestors suffered.”

They don’t just “look” ridiculous. And I’d say that 100-120 years ago, there were black AND white slaves in America; they were working in factories making just barely enough to survive until they fell over dead or were injured, with zero hope of escape for them or their children. Compare and contrast THAT to today’s complaints about “not enough new parent leave”.

I like the Snoop Dog. Hollywood tries to make money off of white guilt. There are plenty of talented Americans around. They have tales to tell. I wish they would.

“Slavery was ‘normal’ for most of human history, no matter what color your skin was.”

It kills me at how agast Europe is about the slavery in America’s past. Effectively slavery was “normal” in Europe until maybe 100 years ago. The upper class ran everything, owned everything, and no matter what you did or how hard you tried, without the right name or connections, all you or your descendants were going to get would be barely enough for survival - by design.
