I was in a repo depo on November 8th waiting for transportation to the 173rd.
At the time I was unaware of the battle, but a day or so later I discovered my MOS had changed from Recon Scout to Infantry when I was dropped off in front of a tent for the 503rd Infantry.
I entered the tent and there were only about four other in it. When I asked what cot would be mine I was told to pick any empty one as their previous owners would not be returning.
And thus began my year in Viet Nam

I missed being called by the skin of my nose. Vietnam was winding down just as I became eligible for the draft. My dad was Special Forces, and did three tours there.
