A Los Angeles judge granted Amber Heard a temporary restraining order Friday against husband Johnny Depp, whom she claims has been abusive.
The actor was ordered to stay away from Heard. She wanted the same order to apply to her dog, Pistol, but the judge wouldnt go along, saying there was insufficient showing of need to protect the dog.
Heard, 30, and Depp, 52, have been married since February 2015. Earlier this week, she filed for divorce.
In her complaint, Heard alleges, During the entirety of our relationship, Johnny has been verbally and physically abusive to me.
Johnny has had a long-held and widely-acknowledged public and private history of drug and alcohol abuse, her declaration states. He has a short fuse.
Depp told Rolling Stone three years ago he has used alcohol as self-medication over the years just to calm the circus. He said he is not an alcoholic.
Heards paperwork includes a reference to photos Heard supplied to the court which she said showed injuries to her face after an alleged altercation with Depp on May 21. On Friday, TMZ, which first reported the story, released photo of Heard. She appears to have bruising on her face.
As part of the court documents, Depp filed a memorandum of points and authorities in which he rejects Heards claims of domestic violence.
Amber is attempting to secure a premature financial resolution by alleging abuse, the legal document says. Her current application for a temporary restraining order along with her financial requests appears to be in response to negative media attention she received earlier this week after filing for divorce.
Heard was at the Los Angeles courthouse on Friday for a hearing on the matter. Depps whereabouts were not known.
CNN has reached out to representatives of both Heard and Depp.

Im not saying he is innocent but judges rarely ever turn down restraining orders because they dont want to be held responsible if something bad happens. They are a killer weapon often abused by women. I know plenty of friends where this happened during a divorce and no evidence of foul play was even required..just her word
All good points.
And to be fair, if she has the dog with her, he cannot get near the dog.
Tue. In this sort of situation, men are guilty until proven innocent. The seriousness of the charge...
True.
An RO for her dog...?
Seriously ?
I think she’s a psycho lesbo who married Johnny for the money.
Men yes, but we are talking about Johnny Depp.
Is this story going to knock the Kartrashian Klan out of the news for awhile? The K gang better gin up something big to resume their rightful top spot in the tabloid trash galaxy.
Ya this is big but... Bruce wants to be a bro again? How u going to top that one?
Actions speak louder than words...
Maybe Kim could take this opportune time to divorce Kanye and spill all kinds of dirt on him - “my divorce is nastier and sleazier than the Depp divorce!”
"Kanye really is a Gay Fish."
I think shes a psycho lesbo who married Johnny for the money.
Then why did she marry him? She was old enough to know that marriage wouldn't change him.
She was in a Lesbian relationship right before she got engaged, and apparently still was getting lesbo action on the side after she married Johnny.
The dog is going to draw and shoot with its left rear leg? The puppy obviously needs a cross draw rig.
tabloids say alledgely that Deep was loaded on coke and booze...
To some degree the restraining orders are beneficial for women who are truly in a bad situation and need relief. But those cases are few indeed. The vast majority of RO’s are used to gain the upper hand in a divorce proceeding and to begin the process of dispossession of their husband from everything he’s ever owned and, more importantly, to start alienating him from his children.
Rarely are RO’s used for protection, but extortion.
