Crows do this. My parents would sit out in the yard and drink iced tea. One time they left their ice tea spoons out there and when mom went out to get them she saw the crow flying away with one, the other was already gone.

A few years later the neighbors did some roof work on their house, under the eaves they found the crows hiding place. There was all kinds of stuff, mostly shiny metal objects.
