Just got home.
The Shrine was formed on a Ali Babba theme because it was fun.
It was never intended to be a religion nor anything else except a fun organization. The charity came afterwards when membership grew and resources were available. The Shriners gave money to many Charity and Disasters prior to forming Shrine Hospitals, including a Yellow fever breakout and the Johnstown Flood.

Once a 3rd Degree or Master Mason you are welcome
to join the Shrine. By the way all Master Masons are equal.Some progress further for their own information and education. I am a 32nd. and proud of it, but not better that any of my Brothers as 3rd. degree Masons.

I hope you’re not implying that someone can be both Catholic and a Mason (of which Shriner’s are a part). Freemasonry requires members to profess beliefs radically incompatible with the Christian faith.
