GAME 7: June 15
Playing hockey in the month of May is ridiculous. But (possibly) playing into the middle of June is absurd.

I can remember reading an interview with Frank Mahovlich in which he said that he remembered when Montreal played Chicago in the 1971 finals and that series went to May 18th, he thought at the time that it went too far into the spring/very early summer, lol.
Back in the days of the Original Six (until 1967), the playoffs were done by Mother’s Day.

1970: Bobby Orr’s OT goal gave the Boston Bruins the Stanley Cup on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 10.
Now it extends into June.
Baseball’s World Series used to wrap up by late Sep. or early Oct (before all the playoff rounds), now a couple times it’s gone into Nov. I believe
One time I was in Montreal in June; the hockey season had ended but the NHL awards were being presented (actually it was probably in Toronto but local Mont. media all over it).
Hockey in June, at least the awards...

Yes, they really need to figure out how to get it done by the end of May. With 30 teams, it would be tough to finish by Mother's Day like they did back in the day, but even the biggest fans are probably losing interest once June 1st rolls around. Also, have to believe the ice conditions in most arenas aren't the best at this time of year.
