Pitched battles between superheroes with huge fan bases? Check.
Enough explosions to flatten several Manhattans? Check.
Budgets over $250 million, not counting lavish marketing campaigns?
Double-check.
On paper, this season’s big superhero action films — “Captain America: Civil War” and “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” — from the rival studios Disney and Warner Bros. could almost be the same movie, so similar are their plots, action sequences and allusions to heavyweight themes of topical interest.

It makes no sense anyway. Captian America and iron man are both good guys. What’s next, a fist fight between Reid and Malloy?

Haven’t seen the movie yet, but in the comic books, a team of young heroes were filming a reality show, attacking a super powered guy and ended up inadvertently killing a bunch of children. The government stepped in and said “Ok, we really need to have every super-hero get registered. We need to know everything about them including secret identities. Spider-man came forward and unmasked and discovered that’s a bad idea as his enemies started targeting his family and friends. Tony Stark built a big flying outer space gulag and with the force of the government he tracked down any super-hero who didn’t register and work for the government and imprisoned them. Captain America was really against him on that.
Tony’s always had the “I’m richer, smarter, and hotter than you” attitude n the comics and some definite fascist tendencies.
The more I listen to people quarrel about stupid crap like this the more I understand why Muslims hate America. Maybe we do need hard time to bring us back to sanity. Not that I want it...
Luthor was misplayed. It took me the second viewing to really appreciate the way he was played, but it wouldn’t have gone well with most people.
There was also too much in the movie that seemed there for no reason. I understand they are trying to set up a trilogy, but it hurt the ability to develop the storyline deeper than it was.
The last Superman movie was s**t.
No one wants to see Ben Affleck, esp as Bruce Wayne/Batman.
So what point is seeing the movie anyway??
The movie doesn't paint either as a "good guy" or a "bad guy". They're just two guys that seriously disagree on what the right thing to do is.
And obviously, the first order for the group that registered was to bring in the group that didn't register -- hence, the Civil War.
Ben Affleck was actually not bad. The fighting sequences were done much better than in the Dark Knight and showed why Batman threw fear in the hearts of bad guys.

Muslims hate America because we are FREE to quarrel about this “stupid crap”. We aren’t under threat of beheading or death if we aren’t talking about jihad or Mohamed.
It simply boils down to a better story, and likeable/hateable characters.
I don’t care much for superman - never have but would go see the movie if I heard good things.
Look at the Batman reboot - Batman Begins.
It was great because it gave him an identifiable persona. Good back story, etc.
Superman is an alien, or used to be. Perhaps people don’t like it for that reason???
If Captain America and Iron man’s mothers were both named Martha it would have made a lot more sense

Some comics have gotten leftist over the decades but it still is All American. Thank providence that we can still argue about such fluff.
Not everyone gets it. That’s OK.... But to say you know why the Muslims hate us is very telling of your mind set.
The one scene that needed to be in the movie was the one in the animated Superman/Batman movie, where they meet for the first time in their costumes. Batman is busy beating a thug and Superman taps him on the shoulder to get him to stop. Batman responds by flipping him over some tables. Consequently, Superman bumrushes Batman into a wall and x-rays Batman’s identity.
Superman finds out later, to his chagrin, that Batman intentionally allowed that encounter to go down like that for the purpose of planting a homing device on Superman so Bats could find out his identity. That scene would have made the movie by itself.
Affleck was pleasantly surprising as Batman and I look forward to his reprising the role in future films.
The other bright spot was Gal Godot and I have high hopes for her Wonder Woman movie.
The last superman movie was ok......nothing to write home about.
As for Batman. The Christopher Nolan-Christian Bale dynamic duo was wonderful. To replace Bale with dooooshbag Afflack is almost criminal. WHAT WERE THEY THINKING!!!

At the very least, Bale wasn’t interested in another ten years of playing the part.

Marvel Comics is once again relaunching its universe of comic books, and in the newest iteration of Captain America, readers are told that those who oppose the importation of Muslim “refugees” are somehow as bad as the Nazis.
This month’s Issue No. 1 of the new title Steve Rogers: Captain America will feature long-time Cap foe Red Skull, a super-villain who originated as a Nazi bad guy in World War II. And as the preview at Comic Book Resources reveals, the evil Nazi Red Skull delivers a major anti-refugee speech.
“I have just come from Europe–my homeland, in fact,” Red Skull says to a group of thuggish acolytes in the upcoming issue, adding:
And do you know what I saw there? It was an invading army. These so-called “refugees”–millions of them–marching across the continent, bringing their fanatical beliefs and their crime with them. They attack our women, and bomb our cities. And how do our leaders respond? Do they push them back and enforce the borders, as is our sovereign duty? Of course not. They say, “Here, take our food. Take our shelter. Take our way of life, and then take our lives.” Despicable.
Red Skull goes on to ridicule “tolerance” and incite race hate by encouraging the group of men to start a new race war in the name of the evil organization Hydra, another one of Steve Rogers’ long-time foes.
Apparently, as far as Marvel Comics is concerned, if you oppose bringing in hundreds of thousands of illegal Muslim immigrants, you are as bad as an evil Nazi war criminal.
Actually, the problem for Warner’s is in their basic business philosophy of letting directors do whatever they want. You occassionally get great movies this way.
However, when trying to build a shared cinematic universe, you need a single guiding vision. Most of these characters are very well known and the audience has a basic understanding of how they will respond in most situations.
What Warner’s needs to do is appoint someone with the power to safeguard the characters from the director’s “artistic vision”. This guardianship would extend from their core traits and values, to their costumes.
It appears that Warner’s has come to this same conclusion and has appointed Geoff Johns, the Chief Creative Officer for DC Comics into a such a position.
