Not quite. "Hypnagogic or hypnopompic hallucinations are visual, tactile, auditory, or other sensory events, usually brief but occasionally prolonged, that occur at the transition from wakefulness to sleep (hypnagogic) or from sleep to wakefulness (hypnopompic)."

I experienced sleep paralysis a lot in my late teens and early 20s, and I had these all the time. It usually felt like someone or something was in my room waiting to strangle me.
