Power was off here for an hour and a half, for approximately 10,000 customers. Power company says a bird flew into equipment causing the outage.

Any word as to what the problem might be?

TV is showing a bunch of guys, presumably Seattle City light working at a substation in SoDo. I haven’t heard anything about birds flying into anything though.

I grew up in Seattle and never heard it used.

I’m in downtown right now. In a hospital, so the generators are probably running. I don’t come down here much, and am surprised (although I shouldn’t be) at all the Somalis I’ve seen. They’re everywhere.

It just means south of the Kingdome (when there was a Kingdome). Now it just means south of downtown. I also grew up in Seattle and always referred to that part of the city as the industrial district. Never heard of SoDo until recently.
