Have seen both. I for one could not see how Basinger got an Academy Award for that picture. But then again Hollywood has a habit of giving it to women who play prostitutes in movies.
Remember Jane Fonda won one for a really horrible movie “Klute”.
But who picks the actors and actresses- who decides whop to employ and who to shun?
It’s the producers; the same cohort that has been raping boys and girls and women in Hollywood since the era of Shirley Temple.
It’s a rape culture, and a homo one at that.
Whoever came up with the not so bright idea of remaking the original should be fired!
This movie is beyond stupid, I predicted it would flop when announced, and stand by that. While the individual women are fine comedians/actors the entire premise is just silly. There is no need to reboot this series, and to recast it to be female led comes off as just pandering....
IE there really isn’t a compelling reason to reboot, the original movie still stands up fine and most people have seen it at some point in their lives.... So, how do we get folks to bite? I know, we’ll cast women for the roles.
Stupid. Again, this won’t be the fault of the women involved, but the thing should have never gotten a green light to begin with.
The premise was stupid from the get go, the trailer just confirmed the obvious.
Flop... not because of the actresses, but that the entire premise is just stupid, and pandering.

Female Ghostbusters
Newly improved racially diverse Magnificent Seven
Idris Elba, who I usually like, playing Roland in the Dark Tower. Sorry powerful actor but Roland has been white since the seventies and his race played a substantial part in several of the books.
I swear watching hollywood these days you’d think the country is 60% black, 20% Latino and 50% glbt.
I’m not being prejudicial here, but those backpacks and the ‘guns’ seem awfully wimpy looking in comparison to the ones the ‘guys’ lugged around.
Because they’re not making money on the old version. Sure the original Ghostbusters was great but how many millions of dollars did they make on it last year. Hollywood has always (really, always, going back to the 19th century) been fueled by remakes and pulling from other media. It’s the most expensive form of entertainment to make and they tend to be risk averse and “proven properties” are considered a safe bet. And it often works, some of the greatest movies ever are remakes. Also some of the biggest turkeys, but even they have a silver lining in these days of home media, guarantee sales of the original Ghostbusters will go up.
Did the original Ghostbusters have any kind of political agenda?
Does this new Ghostbuster have a specific external political agenda that I and everybody else is supposed to “get”?
I rest my case why the old one was great ...and the new one will suck

And what are they doing with “guns” in a hospital?
Well given that it was a remake and has had a sequel and multiple (some acknowledged some not so much) remakes already the only really interesting part about this remake is that they’re playing it so straight. Other remakes have turned it into sci-fi, or comedy, or both, having this one actually still be a western is almost a twist. And this cast is pretty good, while we revere the cast of the “original” in 1960 they were mostly up and comers or bit players with a few TV people trying to make the jump.

When they ran the new Ghostbusters Commercial / Trailer during SNL, I thought is was just another Parody Skit.
Looks much more painful than I imagined. It will Bomb.
They let them into the Hospital carrying Weapons? WTH?
