Not this shit again! As a retired USMC Officer here’s my take. “Uniform of the Day” for a hHgh School Graduation is “Cap and Gown” ... period. That is the rule. If the Marine wishes to were his or her Dress Blues after the ceremony, then fine. I agree with the school officials as I do every year when this shit comes up. It’s always the “Recruit Poolies” who seem to have this problem and the Recruiters need to instruct them that they may have “graduated” from Boot Camp but their High School Graduation is another thing.... “Cap and Gown.”
Thank you for your comment, and thank you most of all for your service.
I am also a retired USMC officer and I completely agree with you. There’s a time and place for dress blues and a time and place for the cap and gown. She isn’t entitled to special treatment.
Thanks for your perspective—makes sense to me.
As an inactive (long time inactive) Marine I completely agree!
Well said.
I don’t disagree with the high school if those are the rules. However, my daughter just graduated with a Masters Degree in Speech Pathology (and my wife and I just got a raise!), and at the ceremony there were several graduates in their uniforms as opposed to cap and gown. In fact, they were specially recognized and given a standing ovation. Perhaps the high school should consider modifying its rules.
