My ex wife was the best detective in the history of detection.
Not unlike God his own self, she would have smelled the guilt oozing from Cain and immediately known what he had done.

Like a good attorney, He asks questions He already knows the answer to. Parents do the same with kids sometimes, to see if they'll lie.
For the record, my wife is better at picking the guilty party in Perry Mason than I am. I'm somewhat better at picking up the pertinent clue, but misapply it.

I always thought Cain got a raw deal. Sheepherder offers a sheep and God likes it. Farmer offers his crop, and that’s somehow no good. It just ain’t right....
