It’s good to read FR and learn that many of our Freepers know history.
The tariffs were funding the government. There was no income tax at that time.
When Lincoln figured out that succession was going to stop the flow of money he pulled the slavery issue out of his pocket. Up until that time it was a non-issue.
Follow the money. Even Abraham Lincoln followed the money.
I’m afraid that while there are Freepers who do know history, they are in a distinct minority, and this does not bode at all well for the population at large.
