The wife's the wino around here. If anything, I tend to beer. Used to drink quite a bit after my navy hitch ... 35 yrs ago but just lost the taste for it.

Anywho, she likes it in the bottle with a cork but she pours it into a glass to drink.

Try a good California red Zinfandel.

In my opinion rarely is Italian wine enjoyable on its own as it should be.

First many Italian vines are thousands of years old, and back then you needed higher acidity for preservation. Second Italian wines are meant to pair with the food of that region.
