Seattle IIRC gets less rain than Miami...

and, because they've always counted on rain, they don't put sprinkler systems in and when it gets dry, both Portland and Seattle look bad...and believe it or not, both Seattle and Portland have had extremely dry years in the last decade...

True about "wet" Seattle.

Every august, my lawn becomes completely brown and crispy.

And it is getting unbearably hot in the summer too.

Virtually nobody has AC.

Makes for several sleepless nights.

The other eight months of the year it is cloudy and it mists all the time.

Not too many torrential downpours.

In fact It was only recently that I actually heard thunderstorms here.

Kind of rare.

I'm from the midwest where you have a thunderstorm about every fifth day in the summer.

At least it's not very humid.

Which is nice.

Someone explained to me that often Miami gets a bit of rain early each morning (maybe in a particular season) but the rest of the day is great. I guess Portland and Seattle can be seeing the same lack of rain affecting California (the drought).
