Actually, closed primaries, in which only registered Republicans can vote, are fine with me. Such should be implemented on a state-by-state basis, or why bother having state parties?

As for delegates, if Mr. Cruz wants them all to be unbound, then why bother having primary elections?

We need to first examine the votes of incoming I or D votes and see what they really amount to in certain states. The republican party has ticked off millions of voters and many have registered as independents. It really depends on how rotten your state politicians have treated their constituents and national party issues as well. Some Indies are much more traditionally, socially, & fiscally conservative than the GOP.

We will never win elections again as a party if they further marginalize with all states with closed primaries. If they do, then let’s dispose of all the crooked little time consuming caucuses where less than .003% of the party picks the winner. They have been given a license to cheat.

Some state republicans are grossly outnumbered by other party registrants. The very same people that are allowed to participate in a primary election will most definitely vote in the fall. The opposite of that holds true, as well.

South Carolina is an open primary - diverse state demographically. They have successfully picked the republican nominee since the 1980’s with the exception of one time.

States reserve the right to decide their own way. We want to draw voters, not exclude them from participating. There are many variations between Open / Closed primaries, as well.

Republican Rules should be made from the bottom-up<- state control. Not heavy handed by the party ->top-down.
