One question about not putting any money in God’s donation plate.
I do not put my donations at church on my taxes. I could, but I don’t. Sometimes I have just one or two bucks to give, and when I do, I give more, and sacrificially. Once I just grabbed all my walking-around money, without counting it, and put it in the bag.
A 1040 line item does not necessarily lead to a logical or accurate conclusion about actual giving.
We all heard that theory a million x from Cruz supporters—that he just didn’t claim the deduction. Then Cruz himself admitted on camera that he and Heidi don’t give a dime [to the church]. Then he lied about the reason. (He and Heidi couldn’t afford it; he cited his income from ten years ago to prove it.)
Not giving is one thing. Lying about the reason takes it to a whole new level.
Valid point. I try to avoid being judgmental, but Cruz is the proverbial thorn in my side. ;-)
I’ll meet you halfway. He may have been forced to decide which defense sounded better on Tv cameras:
“But, but, but... We DID give back to God. I swear. We just did it privately and didn’t declare it in taxes. I swear...”
Or
(Paraphrased) “I have sinned in my walk with God. All of us have weakness and that is mine. I’ll do better, Lord willing, because my heart is in the right place. God forgives me on a daily basis. That means you have to forgive me too, right? If you’re a ‘GOOD Christian,’ you’ll forget all about this.”
Okay, that’s not meeting you halfway, but I’m trying. Lol!
