Donald Trump and his campaign have walked back comments from endorser Dr. Ben Carson, who said Sunday that Sarah Palin, John Kasich, Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz and Chris Christie were all under consideration for the presumptive GOP nominee's number-two slot.

Carson, a former rival of Trump's who endorsed him shortly after getting out of the race on March 2, told a Washington Post reporter that all those people – including Palin, the 2008 vice presidential nominee – were on Trump's short list.

Responding to a Morning Consult poll that listed the most palatable veeps to Republican voters, Carson listened to the names and said: 'Those are all people on our list.'

Hours later, though, his boss tried to calm the waters and keep the guessing-game going..

'The @washingtonpost report on potential VP candidates is wrong,' Trump wrote on Twitter. 'Marco Rubio and most others mentioned are NOT under consideration.'

Personally, I think Sarah's still in the mix.

Perhaps for a cabinet position. Not VP.

It’ll be Gingrich. All these other names are meant’ to throw off the press.

Trump’s top priority is someone who can navigate the congressional morass.

All this speculation is wasted time. Soon enough, we will know. Only two months until the convention. It will probably be someone who has not yet been discussed.

Because it's been demanded.

To Sarah's List.

I grow weary of this endless Veep speculation already.

Personally, I think Ben Carson has been given the ‘job’ of “misdirection” when it comes to who Trump’s VP will be. He’s out there, full serious demeanor mode, dropping names & the media are following him around snarfing up the bread crumbs .... meanwhile, the real work of finding a VP is going on (if Trump doesn’t already have one picked out).

I can’t see Palin getting it, as I don’t think that would be campaign-smart for Trump.

But Ben needs to just shut his trap, rather than attempt to speak for or about Trump’s operation.

The media lied the first time and now lied again by claiming Carson walked it back

It'll be Gingrich

An advantage would be that besides his knowledge of how DC works, he's gotten very good at being a pro-Trump voice with the media. Another asset would be that the dems probably don't have a potential VP choice who could measure up to Gingrich in a debate.

That being said, I look forward to Trump's well thought out and maybe unexpected choice. I could see an advantage to having a younger guy (pandering for the female vote would be counterproductive) who Trump could mentor.

There was NO misdirection. Media just lied about what Carson said. Carson never listed the names of those under consideration

Carson is full of it. Don’t believe any of it. Trial balloon, just plain BS... I don’t know, but it is meaningless! In other words it doesn’t mean anything.

President Trump Cabinet

Gov. Greg Abbott or Sen. Jeff Sessions as Vice President

Department of State, (return INS.) - Newt Gingrich
Department of Justice - Rep. Steve King
Department of Treasury, (includes former Homeland Security - Customs) - Carl Icahn
Department of War, (change the name back.) Include former VA function - Gen. James Mattis
Department of Interior, (includes the legitimate functions only of former Dept. of Transportation, Dept. of Homeland Security - Border Patrol, and Energy Departments) - Gov. Sarah Palin
Department of Labor and Commerce - Herman Cain

This proposed model has the President directly managing seven subordinates which is optimal.

Department of Education - William J. Bennett in a Temporary position.
It will be ELIMINATED as proposed by The Donald, 9/23/15 at a Columbia, SC Town Hall with Sen. Tim Scott.
Department of Homeland Security - ELIMINATE
Department of Energy - ELIMINATE
Department of Health and Human Services - ELIMINATE
Department of Housing and Urban Development - ELIMINATE
Department of Veterans Affairs - ELIMINATE
Department of Agriculture - ELIMINATE
Department of Transportation - ELIMINATE

On Fox news Sunday, 10/18/15 Trump said he would cut funding for EPA and Dept. of Ed.

In non-cabinet level jobs

Gen. Peter Pace as National Security Adviser
LTC Ralph Peters as Director of National Intelligence (NDI)
Sheriff David Clarke should be FBI Director
Michelle Bachman as IRS Commissioner under Secretary Carl Icahn in Treasury
Admiral James A. Ace Lyons as Undersecretary of War - Navy Branch.
LTC Allen West as Undersecretary of War - Army Branch.
Lt. Gen. Tom McInerney as Undersecretary of War - Air Force Branch.
Ted Nugent as Undersecretary of Interior
Lynnette Diamond Hardaway and Rochelle Silk Richardson would be great as President Trumps Co-Press Secretaries.

Marsha Blackburn for Speaker of the House
.

If forced to choose, I’d guess that Trump will pick Gingrich.

However, I honestly think he will go for the surprise factor.

I would make that selection number 1A with Gingrich being selection number 1B.
