A KTLA broadcast is making the virtual rounds via Twitter and Facebook, and it's awkward as hell.
Viewers were so horrified by the sight of meteorologist Liberté Chan's arms that an off-screen anchor handed her a sweater mid-report so she might cover her shameful upper body. As if by magic, a hand appears with a grey sweater. "You want me to put this on?" she says disbelievingly. "Why? 'Cause it's cold?"
"We were getting a lot of emails," said the off-camera voice.

I’m going dumb on the spelling but figure in the Tyyqua Weather segment.
Too “sparkly” for an office dress. More like a cocktail dress. Make the straps about 2” wide or with cap sleeves, then she wouldn’t need the sweater.
“...thought maybe her arms were covered with thick hair or psoriasis or something...”
Same here. But she’s beautiful.
What kind of assh*le gets offended by a beautiful woman’s arms?
I was expecting to see boobage or tats. She looks fine to me. We had a weather girl in Orlando who, when standing in profile obscured half the state. I do miss her so :)
Reminds me I need to get honey dew melons and cantaloupe when I go shopping. Flame away.
Old & fat women were jealous. I thought she looked great.
What was it she was reporting on?
The folks who are “offended” by the young lady’s appearance have apparently never seen weather forecasts on Mexican TV. Imagine a Kardashian clone in the tightest skirt with a low cut blouse and you’ve got the idea. Hard to imagine that any heterosexual male viewers can remember the forecast, but I’m sure they can tell you what that female weathercaster was wearing.
As for showing up for the dawn shift after a night of partying, that’s hardly original. Alexandra Steele, who still appears from time-to-time on The Weather Channel had that reputation when she was the morning met at WJLA-TV in Washington, D.C., where she worked before going to TWC. Folks at the station said she sometimes arrived for work in a cab and it was apparent she had just come from a club. But to her credit, she was always professional and the nocturnal habits never affected her on-air work.
The “cover-up” at KTLA reeks of a publicity stunt. The cocktail dress was a bit minimal, but in today’s newsroom environment, it’s hard to imagine a news director or executive producer telling a female personality to “put on a sweater” because they’ve received a few e-mails. It’s more likely the station would agree to pay for a rack of similar dresses if it bumped up the ratings.
I was always a fan of Evelyn Taft :o)
I don’t see anything wrong. But Arthur Godfrey might fire her because she is better looking than him. ;-)
That’s drink-spewing, screen-cleaning funny right there man. Totally worth it. Thanks!
I fail to see the problem.
In TV terms, that’s idiocy. Yes, she’s a very attractive woman, but you never, repeat never, wear clothing that matches the color of the ChromaKey, otherwise, you become a floating head, or look like a block of human Swiss cheese.
Years ago, I watched a met at KATV in Little Rock don sweats and a ski mask dyed to match the ChromaKey so he disappeared on air (it was a Halloween stunt). The director cut to the anchor desk as the met was “vanishing” and the male anchor (a guy named Steve Barnes) was doing a face palm.
The standards of TV news (or lack thereof) will never change.
Typical damn feminists. Always wanting to cover up beauty.
Weather Report was THE best and the Jaco version was the best version of Weather Report.
I had tickets to see Joe Zawinul at a small local jazz club but he cancelled on the day of the show. I later learned he died shortly thereafter.
Sharia normalization.
Burrous and station management sound like they are planning for their dhimmi status. Wouldn’t surprise me if the calls were coming from Muslims. They sure weren;t coming from the Mexicans. Look at the Spanish language station weather gals.
I’m right there with that Aussie on that broadcast.
I could learn Spanish in a week!
