A Bloodbath of Shows Axed for New Shows to Debut Next Season

It wasn't quite the Red Wedding, but Thursday brought viewers news of more than a dozen prime-time shows being axed to make room for new programs next season.

ABC took the sword to seven series (including country music drama "Nashville" and veteran whodunit "Castle") while Fox is sacrificing five freshman shows, including comedies starring aging pretty boys Rob Lowe and John Stamos.

Meanwhile, CBS is deleting "CSI: Cyber" after this, its sophomore season, thus laying to rest the "CSI" dynasty that encompassed four series during a 16-year span.

The official body count — as well as new programming blood for the 2016-2017 season — will be rolled out next week at the networks' "upfront" sessions for advertisers.

But through a combination of network leaks and networks jumping the gun, a flood of announcements got early exposure Thursday.

To be replaced by shows with queers in leading roles.

IMHO, nothing compares to the original The Muppet Show, so I’m not surprised.

I never watched CSI Cyber, but I did enjoy all three of the other shows for the most part.

However, I watch most of them on Netflix more than anything else.

Naturally the previous seasons ended on cliffhangers that will never be resolved. I really hate season end cliff hangers.

Wow, our family has apparently missed an entire generation of TV awesomeness. Haven’t a clue about any of these show that got cut, nor the ones surviving.

Oh well, off to live life.

"Supergirl" is moving to CW. Maybe they'll finally explain how Supergirl got her ears pierced.

Wow, Rob Lowe was in 3 shows this year, and they all died. Good shows too, but all too weird for an audience apparently.

My fav show has always been CSI on Tuesday night - but that was until Michelle Obama was on a couple of weeks ago. Couldn’t believe Gibbs could subject us to that. Has now moved to the DNW list. Hate to see Castle and CSI:Cyber go away. Two of the more decent shows the kids could watch.

Looks like it is going to be ION if we watch anything in the evenings. At least Blue Bloods is still on.

Good. Maybe they’ll ‘lose’ the black James Olsen in the transition...

Haven’t watched a US-show in years, couldn’t tell you the names of any them. I only know the novelas on Univision, because that’s what the wife watches. and the KDramas I like to watch.

Dag Nabbit! I really liked Castle. A little nuts, but one of a very few decent shows.

They really ought to bring back Trump's show. Imagine all the bureaucrats auditioning to save their departments and Trump firing every last one of them - HIGE.

Gibbs is on NCIS not CSI. NCIS was renewed.

NCIS, not CSI...

I didn’t see Obama on it, since I fast-forwarded through that part of the show.

According to the producers of the show, she got them pierced as a young girl on Krypton.
