A Bloodbath of Shows Axed for New Shows to Debut Next Season

It wasn't quite the Red Wedding, but Thursday brought viewers news of more than a dozen prime-time shows being axed to make room for new programs next season.

ABC took the sword to seven series (including country music drama "Nashville" and veteran whodunit "Castle") while Fox is sacrificing five freshman shows, including comedies starring aging pretty boys Rob Lowe and John Stamos.

Meanwhile, CBS is deleting "CSI: Cyber" after this, its sophomore season, thus laying to rest the "CSI" dynasty that encompassed four series during a 16-year span.

The official body count — as well as new programming blood for the 2016-2017 season — will be rolled out next week at the networks' "upfront" sessions for advertisers.

But through a combination of network leaks and networks jumping the gun, a flood of announcements got early exposure Thursday.

Castle is ending? Maybe Nathan Filion can finally do another Firefly movie.

Stana Katic is a pretty lady, but I stopped watching the show because of her. Couldn't take her anymore.

I think you meant to say Longmire is now a Netflix series. I watched the most recent season on Netflix, and it's been renewed. Haven't gotten around to watching the second season of Daredevil, but the first season was great...as was the first season of Jessica Jones. Looking forward to the Luke Cage series starting on Netflix in September.

I've enjoyed Hell on Wheels, but that's ending this year. Same with Person of Interest.

I notice the pace of which Netflix is releasing original programming is quickening. What is going to happen to the cable networks?

That happens. Especially on Fox. They extended the Brisco County Jr season twice then canceled it. I loved YMATA, really weird take on that idea. And twisted funny. Of course British shows are usually built to be “complete” on 1 season (something they’re much better at than us), sure that one left itself room for a pickup if it happened, but it’s quite satisfying as a single. His other (first by the calendar) show this season Moonbeam City, an animated show on Comedy Central that often was trying too hard to be Archer, but had its moments.

Yeah, loved Jericho. They got a lot of things right.

"I really hope they do a good job with this. I love that movie. "

It is a great movie. I'm with you on doing the series right. I'm sick of these networks canceling shows after a few episodes, or canning them after one season despite good ratings.

The Man in the High Castle has been renewed by Amazon for a 10 episode second season.

It’s Houdini & Doyle. It’s a British series that aired earlier in the UK. In fact, the last episode just aired in the last couple of days.

To be replaced by shows with queers in leading roles.”

I was told today by the mother of a 5yr old girl who idolizes “Frozen” that Frozen to will have one of the sisters as a lesbian. If true so much for Disney.

I tried to watch Longmire. The gun content was AWFUL. I turned it off in the middle of the first episode when the Starbuck chick tried to CHECK A GUN REGISTRATION on a rifle. In Wyoming. Yeah, sure. Noo Yawk writers don't know any different.

"“Person of Interest” is back."

This is the last season for it. It's only 13 episodes, and they've been showing them two a week until they're done.

Apparently that effort was an epic fail. Does anyone here remember that (as I was in diapers at the time)?

They cancelled all their 'country' themed shows in one fell swoop. Beverly Hillbillys, Green Acres, Pettycoat Junction, and I think Mayberry RFD.

No. Primarily shows like Arrow, where even the little sister becomes an expert Asian style fighter.

On Gotham, Gordon fought four ninjas in a dark room and then predictably was wiped out by a single female. In the next episode he fought an ape. I told my wife I hoped it wasn’t a female ape or he was doomed.

Such is the state of gayfeminazi TV. When we called to downgrade our Directv, they didn’t even argue with us.

I liked watching “Petticoat Junction” in reruns as ones like Gunilla Hutton and Meredith MacRae(RIP) were nice to look at. The old uncle could be such an idiot, though, to the point it got to be annoying at times.

“Monarch of the Glen” is our favorite. We’re watching it for the third time. Lexie is HOT.
