Join a gym. I teach a spinning class and weight class at my local gym. Spinning is a great way to lose weight and stay fit. Less impact on your knees too. Plus you have people around that will motivate you. When someone hold you accountable you tend to accomplish your goals. Like holding the politicians accountable for their actions.

I have seen many people with different illnesses transform themselves on a spinning bike.

LOL, you mean posting on FR doesn’t count as exercise?

Hilarious!

Your comments, not your condition however which is serious.

Or since this FR you could say HUGH and SIRRIUS.

Do something that you can do outside like hiking or biking.

Also 10 minutes has recently been shown to be as healthy as hours doing something.

You have to get fit enough to do ‘high intensity interval training’ for the benefit however.

And last but not least. DO NOT TAKE STATINS! They are deadly for your overall health. Cause liver, kidney, pancreas issues and muscle depletion. Take Cinnamon to lower Cholesterol.

Here is a great video which you may enjoy:

There are others of Arthur which I can send you later, if you are interested. The best part is that he actually looks so young now, you’d not recognize him. Truly a miracle!

Persistence and reliability is the key, don’t go so hard that you get hurt, sore, or stale and have to force yourself to work through pain. The goal is to be able to perform your moderate exercises without it being a drag, which will eventually wear you down until you don’t want to do it and you stop.

When you ramp up, never ramp up by more than 5-10% at any one time, and never ramp up more than once every few weeks, whether it’s weights or aerobic exercise. Let your body get used to everything slowly. Good luck.

I used to have a NordicTrack and lost a ton of weight on that over the years but stationary biking, skiing, treadmill or elliptical is boring as hell. Best work out video I found was Die Hard.

Now I have changed it up to a 45 minute cardio day (pre and post workout stretching then on the next day a pre-workout stretch then 15 minutes of warm up cardio followed but 5 intense minutes of free weight set and 5 minutes of intense cardio blast, then repeat based upon the specific muscle group I am targeting that day but usually I’m done within an hour including stretching.

I alternate cardio and muscle days to reduce muscle soreness which is why a lot of folks give up because they get sore trying to do too much too soon.

I would recommend trying out any equipment before you buy. Eat less starch, more protein, more fresh fruit and vegetables. Drink water. Avoid sugar.

I use a treadmill, elliptical and weights. I listen to sports radio or read while working out. I also keep a log of every workout. It’s important to start slow and keep at it.

Good luck!

I would also recommend walking. If it gets hot, do it early. If you can find a good track, it is easier on your feet.

P.s. I’m not taking the Crestor. Too expensive and scared of side effects

I also recommend drinking lots of water. When I start to feel hungry or drowsy in the afternoon, it’s usually because I haven’t had enough water. I drink about a gallon a day.

I used a Nordic track for over a year and it worked great for me. I lost a lot of weight and it made me feel great. my problem was that when I went travelling or took a break because of accidents or illness I had a difficult time getting back into it.

I’ve used a recumbent bike and found it fairly effective, especially when temperatures are in the 90s outside and the humidity is high. I just read my kindle or listen to ebooks when I’m working out and the time goes by quickly.

My daughters bought me a FitBit to monitor my activity. I didn’t think I would use it, but I was wrong. It’s a great way to monitor your activity during the day and helps set and maintain goals. I’ve been much more active since I got it.

The tip about avoiding sugar is a good one. My mother came to visit over a year ago and bought a small bag of sugar. Most of it is still in the cabinet. We try to eat lots of whole grains and fresh vegetables and fruits.

The important thing about exercise and diet is that you have to find something that you enjoy. I like taking my dog for a walk and he’s a great partner. He will nag me into going when I’m teetering on wimping out.

Good luck. I was really surprised at how much better I felt after only a couple of weeks.
