The MacBook Pro and Air lines are overdue for an update, and customers are noticing. New MacBook purchases are down compared to the first quarter of last year, suggesting customers don't see a reason to pay Apple's premium pricing right now.

They don’t have a modern, competitive desktop or laptop.
But they do have a gay CEO, so yea diversity!
Or people can’t afford them these days.
I don’t know why any normal user, notice, I said normal, would buy a mac laptop or desktop these days. They are so old looking, outdated CPUs and memory and super expensive. Plus Windows 10 is really good now. A lot of my customers are upgrading to 10 pro now and bought new desktops as well.
Lenovo M93P Tiny Desktop with an i7 and SSD for under $500
Apple can’t even compete with that
No difference but the price
I’m a pc/linux guy, and not a apple fanboi by any stretch, but a lady friend recently purchased a macbook-mini. Well it turned out to be a beautiful machine. Well designed, very ergonomic, beautiful display. Just plain nice. Gotta give ‘em credit as the old saying goes.
Something you are missing. Durability and longevity. Many people find their MacBook pro is like elephant skin boots and doesn’t wear out.
Units sold will lag because the windows crowd will buy two in the time we buy one. My daughter took a new Pro to college. She is in grad school now and is starting to think about replacing it, but it isn’t a crisis. All of her roomates have replaced their windows machine once at least or had major issues to sort out in updates etc.
Her Pro has been drama free.
A gay CEO who announced to the world and all those impressionable Applephiles that none other than God himself blessed him with being gay.
Yeahhhhh... no competitive modern laptop or desktop. LOL.
You enjoying windows 10?
My MacBook Pro from 2011 is still “good enough”.
I don’t use one anymore at all, except at the office. iPad and iPhone is all I need.
And you apparently believe you can avoid homosexuality in the IT industry by .....going to MS? Or what hardware builder?
I am waiting to hear what OS and machines are not built by gays? This is clearly an offsetting penalty. And then it is back to the machines.
People can afford them, but they won’t shell out the $$$ for 1 or 2 year old technology (Haswell, Broadwell processors.
As soon as the Skylake processor based MB’s hit the streets, sales will pick up.
Apple should have put them out in February. It looks like they won’t be out until July now.
They need to speed up the refresh cycle on laptops, since even though many Macbook owners keep their laptops for years, they want the latest and greatest when they buy it.
Nothing wrong with windows 10
“Build a reliable widget and over time sales will decline.”
Very true, nailed it.
“Nothing wrong with windows 10”
Then there is nothing I can say to help you. Best wishes!
I have a 2011 17” Macbook Pro and a 13” 2012 Macbook Pro. Both still work great. I replaced the HDD with 500GB SSD’s and they both are screamers. The 17” has 2 27” Thunderbolt displays connected and I use it as one of my home PC’s when I don’t want to power up the 2009 Mac Pro 12 Core beast (It draws a lot of watts).
I don’t give a flying f+^%$ if someone is gay. That’s their damn business. But get up as a CEO of one of the biggest companies in the world and announce that god has blessed you with being gay, that’s a different thing.
A single usb-c port just doesn’t do the job. What were they thinking?
