Hey, Bill Kristol’s vote, but what about the Nancy-boy vote, but I repeat myself.

He could not get elected in 2012. He will not get elected in 2016. He could help Hillary get elected AND keep the Washington DC cabal, Uniparty globalist political elite class in power.

Romney is a traitor to the will of the people.

I’m not worried about Romney... Not one bit.

That’s true. He poked his head out to help Cruz win Utah.

But after that, he’s been hiding in his La Jolla nest. He noticed that every time he attacks Trump the voters strike back and his reputation declines.

He is a known quantity. Cthulhu would have a better chance of winning.

Romney would not win states. He would split the vote in states giving the state to Clinton. The only way to deny Clinton is to deny her states. This will not accomplish that.

Bizarre thought process there.
Like it or not the GOP will never endorse anyone not on the GOP ticket and Romney would be a bridge too far

RAT Romney is a conservative spoiler who always smells
a small child or conservative to attack at elections.

RAT Romney has proven himself to be nothing but a twisted, gay, polygamous, spoiler from Mexico, who destroyed the
conservative party in Massachusetts, where the Bishop
also imposed gay marriage and RomneyCARE.

Plausible. Not likely for various reasons, but plausible.

Great fiction works on this principle - Science fiction (Bradbury, Heinlein), warfare fiction (Clancy) take care to stick to plausible constructs. Presidential elections are fertile field for speculation, because the method of election is indirect, and there are many places in the process where radical changes can be inserted.

Oh, one other type of fiction - political pundit fiction. Check out the "Trump won;t succeed" articles from eight or nine months ago. "Never be the nominee." Plausible too.

Romney doing that would be framed as the elite supporting hillary and ganging up on US voters to keep power for the elitists. Already, Sanders supporters and undecideds are uneasy that hillary is preferred over Trump by the most hated pols in America.

Bottom line....it would feed right into Trump's "rigged system" meme. Evidence...in many states, Sanders and Trump won BOTH primaries. That means that a strong majority of US voters are voting against the status quo.

If you want a good example of where a Romney third party campaign would go, look no further than John Anderson in 1980. Anderson broke double digits only in New England and New York and mainly for the type of people who couldn't vote for anybody with an "R" after their name under any circumstances but still thought the Democrat incumbent was an incompetent putz.

Nationwide, Anderson got one out of every 15 votes; Romney would do well to get one out of every 50, and probably from the same area of the country where he was governor.

Good for you. I did something like that when I was young and foolish. One of the typical responses for a for a ballot position petition request was "No, we should get rid of all parties!"

Yeah, dumb@$$, like refusing to allow any competition to the Uniparty Duopoly is going to help accomplish that . . .

1980 is a more likely scenario. See my post #94.

That’s so absurd as to be laughable. Not a snowball’s chance in hell of Romney winning 3rd party when he couldn’t win with all the resources of the GOPe at his disposal 4 years ago, not to mention, 3rd party runs in the U.S. have been complete jokes during modern election history.
True, except that Romney's loss in 2012 was largely his own doing. He just didn't seem to have the intestinal fortitude or the ideological underpinnings to enable him to overcome the attacks from Obama and the fifth column news media.

Still, this is a fascinating essay. It reminds me of how the political battles in the Republican Party led to the 1912 birth of Teddy Roosevelt's "Bull Moose" Party. Of course, this didn't help the GOP that year; Roosevelt fell far short of winning. He drew 4.1 million votes—27%, well behind Wilson's 42% but ahead of Taft's 23%. (6% went to Socialist Eugene Debs). He received 88 electoral votes, compared to 435 for Wilson and 8 for Taft.

Many historians have concluded that the Republican split allowed Wilson to win the presidency.

Ah, John B. Anderson. I actually worked for his campaign.

That was back when I was young and stupid. [foolish grin]. But, I redeemed myself in '84 by working for Reagan's re-election.

I think just about all Americans will see this for what it is, the polling will be horrific and anyone associated will be tainted in any future politics.

Trump stepped up and tore off the mask of the GOPe as the leftist rat infiltrators that they are.

It will gain these blihering, mewling fools no pity to further expose themselves and waste their resources. At least they aren't directly supporting Hillary and that much is a win for our guy.

It’s quite clear that the House of Representatives of the 115th Congress, should the choice fall to them, would not elect Donald J. Trump as President.
