The child support enforcement thing is out of hand.
A few months ago the county cops laid siege to a neighbor’s house. There were six police vehicles on their lawn, a chopper overhead, and reportedly another six vehicles around the block. They used a loudspeaker to call out the resident. I thought it was an arrest for murder or something, the way it went down.
Later on I find out it was enforcement of a late $750 child support payment. They must have spent $10,000 enforcing it, if not more.
It is not about the fine amount. The law is the law and there has to be punishment. And these thugs are armed, so precaution is necessary.
