“Yes, they’re wrong sometimes but you said 100%.”
A NRO fanboy, I thought you were extinct?

Well. I think the author is pretty cynical myself. I’m gonna go see it and probably will enjoy it.

Perhaps he is. Would you not agree that the comic book genre, like all art and entertainment, has been taken over by leftists over the past several decades and promotes a progressive viewpoint generally? I’m just asking to further discussion. I’m not a fanboy and I don’t live for the next regurgitation of the X-Men, but it seems to me that this is so.

RE: A NRO fanboy, I thought you were extinct?

Nope, I am a fanboy and a stickler for accuracy and the truth.

NRO is wrong sometimes but in most cases, they are spot on.

I’ll say the same thing for Trump and Cruz. I am never invested in any one person or organization, only to accuracy and the truth.

My daughter went last night, said it was ‘so good’.

She didn’t see batman/superman, wasn’t interested...’maybe’ when it comes out on redbox...

Looks like Armond doesn’t have the faintest idea where the plot for this movie came from.

Too much to cover everything, but here are a couple of points:

It’s way toned down in the movie, but the comic book version of Civil War really was a war, and involved a far larger cast (much of the reason behind the reduced scope is the tangle of copyright restrictions that prevent Marvel from including everyone they’d like). In the original, both Thor and the Hulk were involved, which really ramped up the “war” side of “civil war”.

Armond has absolutely zero knowledge about Black Panther, and further has no understanding that BP is not a token, out-of-left-field inclusion with no relation to the story arc.

Probably the crowning example of how detached from reality this review is, is Armond’s praising of the mediocre “Batman vs Superman” movie as being deep and soulful.

Sadly, never had much exposure to comic books. Did enjoy reading older brother’s Classics Illustrated when he wasn’t around to snatch them away from my grubby little paws.

I still have some of those laying around. I never got much into Batman or Superman, etc. even as a kid. I did like the Bkackhawks and Tommy Tomorrow. I think I outgrew comics as a teenager:

I have loved every single one of the Marvel movies save some of the Spider-Man episodes, and the new FF.

I thought Age of Ultron was an absolute masterpiece, and in my universe, “Guardians of the Galaxy” would have won an academy award. So I look forward to “Civil War.”

Especially so, now that the GOPe perpetually irrelevant NR has weighed in against it.

As one who HAS read the original Marvel Civil War crossover event, I can (and do) categorically state that the NR author is stunningly unfamiliar with said source material, and has missed the actual trajectory of the point farther than even Reed Richards could stretch.

" the offensively named Black Panther, a pseudo-African potentate who possesses suspiciously feline/feminine powers of vengeance"...? Good grief. This is what happens when humorless faux intellectuals are allowed anywhere near genre entertainments.

Slim Pickens’ interrogation could soooooo not be made in today’s PC world.

Never mind the General enjoying watching Dumbo....

The Hong Kong based artist also does Star Wars. Here's his take on Darth Vader.

Vermont Lt: Anyway, I thought the civil war meme came from the comic books. So it’s not exactly a new theme.

freepertoo: I really hated the comic book Civil War series (being an old Spider-man fan) because it ultimately wound up with Peter Parker splitting from his wife. Hated that! In any case, it was boring.

I didn't read the series, but the premise could make a really great movie: the government passes a "registration act" [for superheros & mutants] which leads to Captain America saying Nope! and rebelling against what he would [correctly] view as both unconstitutional and horrific [being that Nazi Germany to him was literally "a few years ago", and they did people-registration too].

It would be a good way to ask the question what are the legitimate limits of government? to the audience, if done right.

Considering that Hollywood is overrun with Arbitrary government loving, FDR idolizing, so-called “progressives” I wouldn’t trust their conclusions as far as I could throw Michael Moore.

That’s exactly what the comic series was about. Not so sure how close the movie is.
