The murder and mutilation is atypical, but sexual abuse of handicapped girls is extremely common. One of my friends has two daughters with mental handicaps - one with Down Syndrome, one with severe cerebral palsy. One of the girls needed hormonal treatment (birth control pills) for menstrual dysfunction, but my friend didn’t want to let the school know because then it would be known that her daughter wouldn’t become pregnant if someone had sex with her.
The school requires notification of all medications ... but I told her she should just consider it a “supplement” and not tell them.
