Basically Trump refuses to debate, so Cruz held an impromptu debate with some of his supporters.

This sentence of yours is a precise reflection of the type of broad overgeneralization Ted Cruz makes that turns people off — taking a specific incident in particular circumstances and spinning it to sound like a hard-and-fast policy position. Trump does not "refuse to debate" — he debated over and over again, more debates than any other election season. In fact, his presence was providing such great ratings to the TV networks that the debates were very profitable for them, so the networks wanted more debates than the public seemed to want — and even so, Trump won every debate according to the main online polls: Drudge, Time magazine, etc.

What Trump has refused to do is elevate Cruz's profile by debating him one-on-one now that the panel debates are over — why should he favor debating Cruz over debating Kasich? And Trump refused the one debate "moderated" by Megyn Kelly after she had amply demonstrated that it would not be a debate, but a public humiliation by a biased interrogator rather than a neutral moderator, complete with her having lined up illegal and muslim immigrant protesters who would hurl "social justice" rebukes in the form of questions at Trump — naked media manipulation, not a "debate."

This illustrates why Trump says politicians are "all talk, no action." Cruz is trying to wear people out with words; the MSM has been engaging in yet another round of brazen coercion in favor of the Uniparty. Trump took effective action to shut down "gotcha" crap such as the stuff the MSM leveled against Palin in 2008. Cruz is acting like a female in this race — "Can we talk? You never talk to me!" after she has run up the credit card and wants to "explain" and wheedle.

Trump is acting like a man.

I haven't seen this video, but...

Any idea how annoying that is on a discussion Forum?

... are you positive that these Trump supporters are actual Trump supporters?

You owe it to yourself to watch those people's unrehearsed contempt for Cruz's lying. It's very doubtful a rational person would have set himself up for that. He was expecting irrational violence, believing himself their moral superior. What he got was a richly-deserved helping of moral discernment from the "common man", and rejection of his patronizing beliefs about them.

Cruz debates about conservative ideas. No need to make up scenarios and conspiracies as the op did.

It's not a "debate" when he tells lies. It's a manipulation that displays his arrogant belief that the dumb f***s supporting the guy who is beating him are too stupid to catch him out.

Used to be that Slate, Salon, DU, HuffPo, Morning Joe, etc. were anathema to FR. Now they're quoted sources whenever they take a shot at Cruz.

Up is down, down is up.

Works both ways.

I guess that puts everything back right side up.

I’m sorry, I feel sorry for Cruz here. He is respectful and trying to have a conversation with the guy, and the people are rude.

But these were quietly standing protesters with signs outside a Cruz rally who didn't seek out the direct confrontation with Cruz; Cruz went to them. Compared to the "protesters" outside the Trump rallies, Ted got off very, very easy. They Alinsky'ed him: used his favored weapon — words that cut — against him.

I fail to see where Cruz “getting into the face of a Trump supporter” if anything he took the childish insults hurled at him, remained calm and was very respectful. By replying to someone in these threads stating to get off your knees you’ve perfectly pointed out what many are witnessing; the extreme lack of RESPECTFUL political discourse as was shared by this protester. I am voting Trump however Cruz displays someone who even under fire in his face he can calmly engage in disagreement without being demeaning. I like to see that in a President who has oversight of such a large responsibility.

With respect to Glenn Beck, I at one time was a fan but no longer. He has become a carnival act and detrimental to Cruz. You and I agree on this point no question.

The point on engaging the protester was shocking for me in a good way. When all our politicians run from people who disagree and do not attempt to have meaningful dialogue then the gap to bridge will never be forged. He was very correct when he said the Presidents job is to hear all sides and points of view. Somehow this has been conflated as something as a negative when we should be cheering someone who has the fortitude to face challenges head on. Only the completely closed minded shut off people that disagree and not LISTEN to what another has to share. A wise person listens whether you agree or not and looks for opportunities to win someone to your side. The problem is when decisions are made upon emotion this does not occur.

If someone that respectfully engages someone they disagree with is petty, stupid and little then God help usual if thatbisbthebwisdom that rules the day. It reminds me of Code Pink

Cruz is the smartest guy in the room no matter what room he walks into.

Unfortunately he is just another Tone deaf Politician.

I think his Campaign is over. He just hasn't admitted it yet.

Cruz doesn't brush his teeth without it being a political calculation. EVERYTHING he does is meant to be to his political advantage

He failed to calculate people's great dislike of him and how this campaign just might cost him his Senate seat next time. He definitely will never get a vote from this Texan household.

Most likely they were rent-a-protestors.

Plausible. I just assumed he thinks he's the smartest guy in the room/world/creation.

Or he was (as it applies to Cruz) acting out.

Cruz wasn't "respectful" at all, as a matter of fact, he was very like CODE PINK, who get into people's faces, on sidewalks and start to tell them why they are so bad and they also tell lies, which IS exactly what Ted did.

JUST WHAT WAS RESPECTFUL ABOUT CRUZ CALLING THE PROTESTER A "CHUMP" ?

Since Cruz follows whatever Beck tells him to do, one has to wonder about his judgement.

After all of this time, EVERYONE know what Cruz has to say. Yet Cruz put down everything that the protester had to say and just kept on with his memorized speech, even when interrupted by very funny quips.

You and I have extremely different views about this.

And having completely different views is perfectly ok and we are respectful enough to express those views without resorting to name calling. I’ll watch the video again on the Chump bit. I seemed to recall him using the term in reference to Trump making chumps out of his believers (chumped them) but I do promise to rewatch. Thanks for the reply

Please do; IIRC, Cruz used the “CHUMP” word a couple of times and in different cases. If he was trying to win that guy over, insulting him wasn’t a smart thing to do.

Sen Ted has reached the point of no return here. His confrontation with the Trump supporters was so over the top. And our guys didn’t bat an eye. ‘Go Home’ Trouble is, Cruz has no home as Cruz has no country. When your wife calls you an immigrant, one might say he has no ‘home’ as well. Ted wants to be so dramatic. He must spend hours in front of a mirror speaking to himself to be certain ‘his tone’ is right on the money and the timing. He comes across as a cheap ‘Hillery’ imitation. The two have that speaking style down to a ‘T’

Praise be he saw the light later this evening and had the wherewith all to find it best to take his jacks and balls and head home. Thank you Sen Ted. May peace be with you and your bride, and you find the success you seek elsewhere.

Trump It’s in your corner now. Make it happen and shake it up. Good beginning this evening. And praise for Cruz shows you to be a man of strong character.
