In 2013, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) emerged as one of the Senate's top H-1B visa supporters, and argued for a 500% H-1B visa cap increase. But during his bid for the Republican presidential nomination, Cruz had a conversion.

Unfortunately, a LOT of Cruz’s policy positions are in question...
This article is devastating. It means to me that Cruz never really went back on his support for H1B, TPA, TPP, China Free Trade, etc.
The quotes in here by Fiorina are proof of her alignment with the Chamber of Commerce that wants cheap labor:
1. “Really, I thought immigrants were the heart of this great country, Fiorina said with a dramatic pause. Our great nation must always be the place where people come to build a better life for themselves and their families.”
2. “Tech companies are getting tired of the ritual of traipsing to Capitol Hill to ask for visa increases and lobbying for a year at a time to get a small bump in the visa cap. Were having to negotiate numbers every single year, even though we need more than were going to get, former HP CEO Carly Fiorina told POLITICO at the RNC last week.”
3. Whats wrong with the H-1B visa system today, among other things, is that we curtail that program so tightly that the limits that Congress allows for H-1B visa entrance are usually filled within one week. So we have to find a more practical system for allowing smart, hard-working people to come into this country and it should be our goal to get them to stay here forever.
Trump is a deductive thinker - he begins with the goal and works back from there - no wasted motion - only what contributes to the result.

Guys like Cruz are inductive thinkers. They are so obsessed with the ideological front end, the actual result is an afterthought.

Now? Now? REALLY?!?!?!?
This crap cost me my last job. These bastards better hope I never get cancer because if I do I’m going out in a blaze of glory like nobody has EVER seen before.
If I was remotely considering Cruz in any way shape or form, this selection of a VP would ensure that no way he’d get my vote. I watched this woman destroy one of the greatest tech companies this nation ever produced..... I lived right down the road from their offices during part of her tenure.... She shouldn’t be anywhere near a position of power ever again, let alone a heartbeat from the presidency.
Cruz just guaranteed whatever support he might have had left from anyone in tech that knows their history, is gone.
But I guess he needs her skirt to hide behind like he did in Wisconsin.
TC is not ready for prime time. This was a dumb and desperate move.
It’s a Hail Mary pass thrown in the wrong direction.
Since Cruz isn’t going to be the nominee then I don’t see where his H-1B stance is even going to come up.
Ted’s H-1B stance has not been in question to many of us for quite some time now. His pick of Carly has just left those who made excuses for Ted with egg on their faces for their blind devotion to him.
I know there have been touchdowns run in the wrong direction. IIRC, the great Jim Brown might have done that once.
Has the ever actually been a hail mary in the wrong direction....other than peewee football, of course. (The best games ever are peewee!)
I guess that makes them both H-1B positive...
I think TC might have been a contender if he had stuck with his Tea Party roots. I stopped contributing the day he voted for TPA. It was then the DT started his surge and there was no looking back.
TPA was a violation of every principle that TC claimed to have stood on. It was unconstitutional on its face and yet he joined with 98 other Senators to surrender the Treaty Power of the Senate to none other than BHO. His lame excuses as to why he did it were lame excuses.
I frankly don’t know why 98 other Senators did that unless they all wanted to shirk their constitutional duty to review and pass treaties (I don’t know how many idiots here insisted that these trade agreements are not treaties) by a 2/3 Majority.
DT seized on that and promised to make better deals with these foreign countries. I don’t think DT has even read the treaty clause, so I suspect he is going to be tickled pink if he is elected that he has the TPA to fall back on.
Oh Well. We’re screwed.
Here’s a video for you.

He had so much promise and he blew it so badly. It absolutely puzzles me.
And with the TPA/TPP thing he played the ‘hide your vote’ game that he asked us to beware of in other politicians.
I had so much hope for that man. I don’t feel stupid about my support and my money spent. I feel sad over it.
Even with the Canadian thing, he could have been on the Supreme Court.

Great post Maggie.
Thanks for the information.
