“Okay that’s enough. He wants to be a republican fine, he needs to learn how to be pro life 100%. They have offered to help.”

BS. It’s not an offer to help, it’s a snarky and condescending reproach, and hypocritical to boot. We’ve been over this before:

The hypothetical question Trump was asked was at least in part an attempt at entrapment. He didn’t answer it artfully and he admitted that.

The idea that anything as serious as abortion could be against the law, and yet the breaking of that law would carry no punishment is a bit of a mind bender, until you understand the political correctness involved.

Absolving the woman who seeks and receives an abortion from punishment, and giving her innocent victim status, is not a position arrived at through application of conservative pro life principles, it is a politically correct position, designed to soften the pro life message for broader appeal.

To conflate a political position of the pro life movement with its sacred moral agenda of ending the abortion haulocaust, when that pragmatic political position is inherently at odds with the moral position, is hypocracy.

The only people who would try to pillory Trump for this misunderstanding, which has already been explained ad nauseam, are people who are against Trump anyway.

It is not an offer of help, and you know it.

He doubled down on it when he suggested changing the Republican platform to allow it. He’s worse than Akin on this issue.

The front page still says: “Free Republic is the premier online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web.”

Nothing about populism, nationalism, anti-establishmentism or any other isms, so until JR changes that, I’m going to assume that is the purpose of this site.

“Perhaps that could be an explanation as to why their efforts have mostly not born fruit over the last 40 years.”

If you think there hasn’t been any progress in 40 years, you haven’t been paying attention.

That’s why I said “mostly no fruit”, not “zero fruit”. Abortion is still legal in all 50 states, is it not?

“Abortion is still legal in all 50 states, is it not?”

Of course it is, it’s impossible to make it illegal in any state until Roe vs Wade is overturned, or an amendment is passed, both of which are huge hurdles to overcome.

Trump won’t be able to get over either of those obstacles any easier than the people who have been laboring at this for decades while he was still donating to pro-abortion groups and politicians, fighting for the pro-death team.

Oh, and even though it is current impossible for us to ban abortion in any state, pro-life activists have successfully shut down all but one abortion provider in five states, and are continuing to work in many more states to reduce the number of clinics operating, meeting with great success. If there is nobody who can legally provide abortions in a state, that is the next best thing to abortion being illegal.

Thank you for referencing that article Morgana. As usual, please bear in mind that the following critique is directed at the article and not at you.

”… some pro-lifers question his convictions on abortion, or even his knowledge of the topic, ..."

Speaking of knowledge of abortion, low-information pro-lifers need to get themselves up to speed on the federal government’s constitutionally limited powers so that they can start pointing out the following. The states have never delegated to the corrupt feds, expressly via the Constitution, the specific power to regulate, tax and spend for abortions.

Yes, shutting down providers has been a positive outcome provided by the pro-life movement, and why completely condemning the movement’s tactics is fooish. But there are plenty of areas where their tactics could use some improvement, and one of the things they need to dispel of is the notion that it is okay for a raped woman to commit murder; another is the notion that someone who deliberately assists in a murder should automatically be immune from prosecution. People get mixed messages about the pro-life movement when significant factions within it hold philosophically conflicting views.

FWIW, I don’t think Trump is staunchly pro-life or pro-abortionist, but I do think his other views (namely, stopping the influx of Muslims, illegals, and Leftists into our country) will lead to fewer abortionists, and I do think that he is staunchly and genuinely anti-illegal and anti-Muslim. That is why I would encourage all pro-life people to vote for him, especially since his political opponent is a demon who believes it is her divine duty to slaughter as many children as she can.

Well, the motto of Harvard University is still “Veritas” and I can’t imagine that will ever change.

Just sayin’. :)

[[Maybe the reason we are having these problems is because God is punishing us for killing our babies?]]

Well yes, for that

and for presidential candidates saying that men in women’s bathrooms is just peachy keen,

and for bakers must bake cakes for gay weddings,

and for florists must pay such massive fines for refusing to do floral arrangements for gay weddings that they lose their business and their home at the age of nearly 80 years old,

and for wedding photographers must photograph gay weddings,

and for schools must recognize and encourage children to become transvestites and homosexuals,

and for parents are forbidden from bringing their children to preparative therapy to help their mental condition when they believe they are gay

and for schools throw God completely out of the classroms while inviting the muslim god in

and for we ban government from expressing their religious beliefs

and for religious organizations be forced to comply with abortion rules

that...etc etc etc

Oh he’s changing it alright- many non trump supporters getting banned lately- take a look through the threads- you will see one trump supporter after another calling for non trump supporters to be zotted- and next thing you know, blip they are gone- The excuse is that anyone that doesn’t support trump is ‘actively working to undermine America- and actively working towards dividing the country- and that won’t be tolerated-

“grass-roots conservatism” apparently means trump support only now- Well of course you can support other candidates, but you must not be vocal about it- because that would mean ‘trying to undermine the republican party’

We’ll see how long this post lasts, or my account for that matter— last time I tried to ask politely why non trump support comments were being deleted, and why accounts were being banned of those who didn’t support trump and were vocal about their support for cruz- I was told what i have described above- and the whole thread was then deleted because it wasn’t pro trump and i and others were asking why so many people were getting zotted

Trump needs to be educated about abortion. Most men don’t really understand the issue.
