Good for you. Trump was not my first choice either, but I think he will do well for us with immigration and trade. I do want to keep moving as conservatively as possible down ticket. When Trump is right, let him lead. When he is too liberal, I’d like a conservative congress to keep him on the right path.

I may not have voted for Trump (yet) but he is what I have to work with to defeat the Clintons and save the Supreme Court and that's what I plan on doing starting tomorrow morning.

Welcome aboard.
I wish I could say I am wiser or better informed, but I can't. All I know is I am older and more cynical and anger drove me to support Trump since he announced.

How else can we focus that depth of anger than to underscore the spectacularly ineffective and inept GOPe of the last 12 years?

To add insult to injury, today Paul Ryan was waxing philosophical about specifically what needs to be done and how. What about the last 8 years?
Why didn't he "go there" 7 years ago?
What's the magic of the current circumstance?

Is it the panic at the realization that self-imposed extinction is the only alternative to wholesale change of the "party first" mentality and the crony good old boys the country be damned results?

There IS a downside for elected criminals conspiracies... Which is a good thing, but only if all the existing ones are replaced by an army of Trumps.

We live in interesting times.

I completely understand your position. We gave to Cruz when he first announced. He is a good guy, despite what some here say. Cruz is truly the person for whom we'd vote.

But, when Trump stuck to his non-PC words and stuck to his non-PC stances, it really made us take another look. Later, when Cruz admitted on a talk show that he didn't push back on Trump “for fear of becoming roadkill,” that really showed me he could not take the heat. By that point, and since, Cruz has glommed on to Trump's more difficult positions, like kicking every illegal out and building the wall, but Cruz only did so after Trump pushed them and took the arrows. Again, Cruz showed he won't lead on sensitive positions.

Cruz is a well-intentioned follower. I would normally be ecstatic to vote for him. But with the GOPe and PC speech in the way, I realize these factors must be broken down, first. Cruz has no way to effectively do that, but Trump does.

Cruz will be a great choice for a different time, and with him, as a man, being demonstrably different and better.

Cruz 2.0 will be a formidable contender, indeed.

Please do, but vote if Trump is the final person, I would really appreciate it if you vote for him in the General.

I understand what you're saying, I got some not so lovely remarks thrown my way as well as a Cruz supporter. I at one time questioned if FR had gone insane! But I have come to terms with Trump being the nominee and remind myself that FR Cruz bashers are not the whole country. That's one reason why I will vote for Trump.

One thing that Trump has certainly done is expose just why it is that the establishment has seemed able to hand pick candidates time after time that were not the choice of the voters. It is now clear that the convoluted systems for allocating delegates in some states (none crazier than Colorado, where I live) have provided the GOPe a poorly-understood playground for manipulating the outcome. I hope that once the smoke clears from this election cycle, we will begin to change these systems to favor more straight-forward primaries.

My post should obviously say the people will not support a candidate that lost 35 states and the popular vote in a contested convention...

“This Cruzer has been vilified and attacked by Trump supporters on FR.”

It’s gone both ways here on FR. It was GOPe (Romney) inspired divisiveness, meant to divide us and save the GOPe.

“I don’t feel welcomed or wanted. But I love my country. So go see my post above. “

Done.

Your love of country and all that has made it great will be validated if Trump is elected, he may not be a true conservative, but he is a Nationalist.

Hillary will continue us down the Obama road to poverty and weakness.

And if you check my past posts, you’ll see that I’ve often stated: “I like Cruz, he’d make a great president.”

I never believed he could beat Hillary.

Trump has to do more to earn my vote than be ‘Not-Hillary’.

He hasn’t done so yet, but he’s still got a few months.

We’ll see.

But, when Trump stuck to his non-PC words and stuck to his non-PC stances, it really made us take another look.

We'll see how long that lasts. His answer regarding what the principle role of the Federal Government is and his answer was that it was defense, education and healthcare was pretty scary. His recent comments on men using women's restrooms was pretty politically correct. His statement that Planned Parenthood does a lot of good things (besides murdering unborn children and selling their organs) was pretty troubling.

Cruz lost me when he voted for TPA. I was a donor before that. I have not given him a dime since.

I was on board the Trump bandwagon for a short season, but his undiplomatic style and his vague answers caused me to take a second look. To me he is just too self absorbed and egotistical to make a good president. His tendency to insult his opponents and to react unseemly to criticism is just not something I want in a president. We already have one of those.

So if and when Trump gets the magic number, I suspect he is going to go full GOPe and even go further left than the GOPe. He strikes me as a knee jerk Rockefeller Republican which is the epitome of elite GOP.

We shall see. Frankly I hope I'm wrong, but I fear I am right.

Great post. I was for Cruz several months ago, but voted for Trump today in Connecticut.

Trump 2016. BEAT Hillary in November!

he may not be a true conservative, but he is a Nationalist.

Thanks for the post. But what do people think a "Nationalist" is? Why is this ok and a reasonable substitute for a constitutional conservative? Please define for me what you (or anyone really) thinks a "Nationalist" is. Then explain why that's a good thing.

This country was built, designed and fought for based on Individual freedom, integrity hard work, ingenuity. All the best individual qualities left alone in a civil society would always lead the Nation in the best direction based on it's founding. What is Nationalist and how does it fit the founders expectations and model for individual and state liberties?

I'll hang up and listen to your answer off the air.
