More Than Half a Million Pledge to #BoycottTarget, but Some Suggest Alternative Forms of Activism

Last week, Target Corp. announced that it will continue to allow transgender customers and employees to use the bathrooms and fitting rooms of their preference, regardless of their biological sex. A statement released on Target’s corporate website Tuesday came amid a nationwide legal dispute over whether transgender people should receive special protection under the country’s civil rights provisions.

Since that announcement, more than 500,000 people have signed an online pledge to boycott Target. A description of the pledge, created by the American Family Association, states several concerns of religious and social conservatives who believe that providing such accommodations for transgender people raises both moral and safety concerns:

My letter below attempts to inject a type of thoughtful discussion into this issue I have not heard. However, I think it is really a pathetic effort in light of the Breitbart article linked to below which discusses the intent of discussions. I believe we have been here before.

In 1973 the American Psychiatric Association decided to remove homosexuality as a mental disorder from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM). Removal followed a two year campaign Newsweek described as ongoing disruptive, chaotic attacks on psychiatrists and physiologists. Yet throughout these disruptive attacks, no academic papers arose at conferences refuting any research previously done. Eventually onslaughts forced sufficient abstentions, under-votes, and apprehensive responses for a third of APA’s 17,000 plus membership to approve removal. Now states have laws against employing the highly successful therapies dealing with this mental disorder.

Bathroom Wars’ Goal: Humiliate the American Normal Majority
http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2016/04/23/bathroom-wars-humiliate-normal-majority/

Women and Transgenderism

Representations about men entering women’s bathrooms and lockers rooms are asymmetrical. Points questioning the inclusivity of transgenderism are considered abhorrent. This approach results in a random walk through reflective life. When comforting lights from popular expressions drives decisions, no opportunity remains to consider insights such that as from John Hopkins.

Their Sexual Behaviors Consultation Unit conducted candidates through a lengthy preparation process resulting in gender reassignment surgery. Study caused them to question benefits and they eliminated the practice in 1979. Dr. Paul R. McHugh says, “that transgenderism is a mental disorder that merits treatment….and that people who promote sexual reassignment surgery are collaborating with and promoting a mental disorder….These policy makers and the media are doing no favors either to the public or the transgendered by treating their confusions as a right in need of defending rather than as a mental disorder that deserves understanding, treatment and prevention.”

Women are terribly uncomfortable with a mercurial revelation that they believe violates their inherent natural right to feel safe and private in their persons. Considering John Hopkins’ experience with reassignment surgery, why shouldn’t their concerns be superior when weighed against an initiative unproven to benefit and possibly enabling a mental hardship?

Any man visiting target should visit the ladies restroom.
And keep the seat down.

I really suggest the ladies stay away.

And I will pee on the toilet seat. That will get “em

Especially women, and especially once some pervert shows up in ladies room wearing a dress.

Target’s lawyers must be rubbing their hands with the prospect of defending all the lawsuits soon to happen with abuse, rape, invasion of privacy (including Erin Andrews type spying/recording)

Target will rue the day their perverted management team EVER “went both ways”

To heck with any alternative suggestion. Target has already stepped in the poo with their policy of whatever feels good. If only I hadn’t banned them from my shopping years ago, I would for this.

US elites have entered a post Christian, neo pagan era of epicurean decadence and hedonism. Over the past fifty years much of the population not only celebrates and accommodates homosexuality but drug use, widespread abortion, pornography, licentious sexual behavior, vapid celebrity and earth worship have become the norm. The popular and political culture reflects this reality. Obama was not elected in a social or political vacuum. Nor would a moral country seriously consider the vile, inherently dishonest Hillary Clinton as a potential President. Unfortunately this seems to be the common fate of almost all advanced civilizations after reaching their apex. It is understandable how the concept of the “faithful remnant” became such a repetitive theme in history.

I have come to realize in the last few years that I find encouragement from holding unpopular positions. I now have the saying that you need to take as much comfort from the enemies you make as the friends who surround you.

They must realize for every name on the petition, several more are doing the same.

And hoping that Target sees an immediate and real drop in sales.

For example, who would want a Mother’s Day gift purchased at Target? Mothers do not generally have good feelings for perverts in the dressing rooms and restrooms.

YEP! The law, ruling or ordinance does not arise based on a single action. Poisoned minds believe they are right and push their agenda be accepted years before true action takes place. Millions of people are already OK with this or complacent. Target’s policy is bad. The mindset of people who think this is OK, is far far worse. Clinton’s presidential run is a reflection of this twisted mind.

That is a great idea. Men should go there, use the ladies room, and LEAVE without purchasing. SWEET

I live 2 blocks from target and have relied on it for 98% of my groceries the past few years. Their decision will inconvenience me greatly, having to go elsewhere.

I had an additional idea that goes beyond a boycott, because I’m sure the lib marketing dept just says, “oh whatever, this boycott is just potential dollars/etc.” Trying to diminish it basically.

So instead, what if normal customers went into target, filled their carts as usual with $200 of groceries/merch, and then go thru the checkout line as normal. Cashier takes 5-8 min to ring it all up, at which point the customer says “Oh! Sorry, I actually identify as a Walmart shopper today.”

Manager is forced to void the sale, thus Target Corp would “see” the dollar effects more readily. Plus the time wasted in ringing up a non-sale. If 15 people did this at 1 target that would be $3,000 for one day. At 30 stores that’s close to 100k. All of a sudden we’re not just talking boycott hypothetical sales but tangible evidence that their policies won’t be tolerated.

I actually think this could be quite effective.

It doesn’t have to be either/or.
I’m boycotting. I’ve called their customer service line. I’ve written to them. And I’m planning on an in person discussion with their staff at Target, without actually buying anything.

Remember when we boycotted KMart and pushed it into bankruptcy?

Remember when Ackmann tried to turn JCPenney into Abercrummy and Filth and we pushed it to the brink of bankruptcy until Ackmann lost 80% of his investment?

Did anyone learn from those events?

Those 2 catered to traditional families. Hundreds of thousands of families boycotting meant was big sales loss.

Target has always catered to the anti-traditional family. It will be a lot more difficult to impact their sales.

So what is AFA going to do with the 800,000 names they now have? I’ll bet 20% of them are not registered to vote. That has been my experience with conservative petitions. IF AFA is smart, they will focus first on the few primary states left and get everyone in those primary states to vote... and organize them to get their friends and neighbors to vote.

AFA needs to publicize the position of each candidate on this and other pro-family issues ..targeted (pun intended) to the remaining primaries. If they can make a difference, then this will be taken seriously.

If it takes them 3 years to wake up to do something with what they have then they can forget it.

Compare their 800,000 names to the 500,000+ Cruz small-donors. The Cruz campaign has been clueless what to do with what they have. Totally incompetent.

Ford tried crap something like this years ago- not the bathroom stuff, but supporting homosexual causes- and people boycotted them severely enough that they eventually stopped supporting the cause- J.C Penney began supporting soem homosexual cause too, and people boycotted them too, and in a short time they stopped because it affected their business to much- But this was back when America was more moral and would not put up with such deviancy by any business- I’m not sure enough moral Americans remain to affect businesses today- but it’s at least worth a try-

My stupid “friend” is in a quandary. He hates Wal-Mart so bad because of the checkout lines (and Target supposedly has faster checkout), but he doesn’t like the transgender thing, either. I asked him, “morals or convenience?” He couldn’t answer me.

I would also think it’s a little hard for Targay to print out flyers and air advertisements showing cute families and humble mommies when they’ve in effect opened those families and mommies up to voyeurs, perverts, and sexual predators.
