I love his song ‘Say You’ll Stay Until Tomorrow’.

It reminds me of when I was a little girl and was spending time with my aunt listening to her albums, singing the songs at the top of our lungs, drinking those small bottled Cokes and having tamales and Fritos for dinner.

Missing those times in Louisiana.

I have a rather funny memory regarding that song.

One of my cousins in Johannesburg, South Africa was engaged to a Rhodesian girl - this was 1976, so it was still Rhodesia.

I flew from Cape Town to Johannesburg to join that part of the family for the wedding. From there we drove to Gatooma (her home town, north of Bulawayo) where the wedding was held. In those days one had to drive in convoy when outside of urban areas, for safety reasons and arrive into a town before 4pm.

After the ceremony we went to the wedding reception where the first song played by the band was..............Please release me.

Ha. I enjoy how music can “take us back” that way.

In 1967, KWIZ, broadcasting out of Santa Ana, Calif. at 1480 kilocycles on the AM dial played mostly “oldies,” but “Release Me” was one of the few “newies” that made the playlist.
