Thank you very much.

I’d read an article about them (FR, I believe) but then forgot their name when I finally decided to find out more.

One of the best lines:

And I need more than want you
And I want you for all time

The story behind the song:

http://americansongwriter.com/2012/01/behind-the-song-wichita-lineman/

When Jimmy Webb wrote the first lines of “Wichita Lineman” not only did he not think he had a surefire hit, he didn’t even think the song was finished.

You're very welcome! I'd also HIGHLY recommend this documentary about the iconic Muscle Shoals, Alabama studios:

Muscle Shoals

Just an excellent film, and filled with lots of surprising stories. I can't recall whether it's Netflix or Prime, but it's out there.

Billy Joel gets it exactly right:

“I wanted it to be about an ordinary fellow. Billy Joel came pretty close one time when he said ‘Wichita Lineman’ is ‘a simple song about an ordinary man thinking extraordinary thoughts.’
