But if a tomato self identifies as a vegetable it should be stored in the vegetable bin.

Lycopene is also good for heart and may help prevent or slow down progression of macular degeneration.

He’s a fruit so we can call him a vegetable, which makes him human?

Good point. IMHO you can call it whatever you want.

This is just not true! I eat tomatoes like others eat apples. I love watermelon and the other fruits also and am just 5 years cancer free this month. I've eaten tomatoes all my life like snacks and salads. many times I would slice a couple of tomatoes and put cucumber slices in and use Italian dressing for my meal. I never make a sandwich without a full covering of tomato on it.

What is fact is there was no one in my cancer group that wasn't low on Vitamin D. I don't know if lack of D lets the cancer grow or the cancer steals your vitamin D, but everyone was made to take massive vitamin D capsules. I say keep your D up and it may fight cancer formation.

Since I switched to a lady doctor, I’m happy they can do that test now with a blood panel.

I would say beets would be helpful.

The study is attributing the cancer fighting property to lycopene, which gives the red color to the fruits and vegetables, presumably to beets also.

Technically any vegetable with seeds is a fruit. Cucumbers, peppers, etc.

Yesterday there was a post that said eating nuts lowered the risk to colon cancer. When I read the article, peanuts were included as nuts even though they are a legume. In this case, I had better eat my beets.
