Starnes: Donald Trump is not a conservative [pro 'grown men going into bathrooms with little girls']

What sort of man is lurking deep inside Donald Trump’s innards?

[SNIP]

Evolving? Projecting an image? Moderating?

Back in the South those are code words for snookered, two-faced and phony-as-a-two-dollar-bill.

Oh, Donald. What have you done? Say it isn’t so.

“Donald Trump is telling the American people that he’s lying to us,” Sen. Ted Cruz said on the campaign trail Friday. “His campaign is now run by Washington lobbyists.”

[SNIP]

In just the past few days we’ve seen him begin to waffle on issues like abortion and religious liberty.

Pro-life groups are extremely concerned by comments he made about rewriting the party’s pro-life platform.

He also spoke out against North Carolina’s decision to strike down Charlotte’s so-called bathroom bill.

“The problem with what happened in North Carolina is the strife and the economic punishment that they’re taking,” he said on the "Today Show." With all due respect, the problem in North Carolina was big business trying to bully and intimidate moms and dads who want to protect their daughters.

“In the last 48 hours, Donald Trump has come out for grown men going into the bathrooms with little girls,” Cruz said. “That is politically correctness on steroids

Well I guess we’d better let Hillary win then. Better a dragon destroys the town than one of the townspeople pass gas.

Trump’s a rock-solid religious conservative. He’s being audited by the IRS, probably because he’s a Christian. And NOBODY reads the bible more than him! Just ask him!

“he is not a religious conservative.”

Anyone who heard him say the last time he attended services was when Norman Vincent Peale was in the pulpit, and thinks otherwise...is an idiot.

The problem is that most Americans don’t seem to care anymore about issues - who cares who turns up in the bathroom with your kids? Who cares about religious liberty, since you yourself haven’t been to church in about a million years and couldn’t care less.

All most people want is the free stuff and a president who says he will protect them from having to work for anything. Tax the “rich” - who will, btw, turn out to be the middle class, who are already suffering from Obamacare - and that will somehow magically flow into your pockets. Forget morality, abortion, decency, because who cares? It’s all about Donald Trump (fill in with Hugo Chavez), who says he will get back at your perceived enemies, but doesn’t mention that he will enrich himself, turn every sphere of life over to the state, do nothing for you but perhaps make you worse off (Chavez collapsed the economy) and probably bring us into a depression like nothing we’ve ever seen. Oh - he’ll also prosecute anybody who criticizes him, shut down journalists...

Gee, sounds just like Bernie Sands. Not surprisingly, Sands voters say that if Sands is not the candidate, they’ll vote for Trump. That should tell you something.

He isn't running as one.

His comments on religion were dealing with his personal views.

One has to look at the overall situation. The president doesn’t make the laws.

Some people are focusing on this one issue to rile up conservatives against Trump, ignoring all the positives about him, such as being strong on stopping illegal immigration (WALL!).

An additional reminder — Why is Hillary so afraid of Trump as the R nominee?

GOPe is in bed with the Democrats for a Hillary presidency.

Hey Todd Starnes, Rafael Cruz just committed political suicide by slamming the bathroom issues. it is time to vote in California and Rafael just insulted 60% of the voters in California. Donald Trump is a lot smarter to avoid the topic at this time. Donald also knows that this is not a state by state issue, it is a problem created at the Federal level and needs to be resolved at the Federal level. and Todd, when did lying become a conservative value as Lying Ted has been doing since attacking Ben Carlson?

Trump is more conservative than most of the people who climb over themselves to tell you how conservative they are.

If Donald Trump is the nominee in the fall most, nearly all, of us will likely vote for him. But please don't kid yourself that he is anything but a New York Liberal. Maybe he actually believes some of the hot button rhetoric that has brought him to this point. But his history should give no one who isn't delusional the idea that if manages to get elected he won't govern just a nudge to the right of Hillary Clinton. That nudge will be enough come November, but everyone should be clear about what they're actually voting for.

We know. We know he’s not a Classic Conservative, and is a self styled hybrid of both sides. That is what sells these days. That is what attracts a lot of votes.

This is just my opinion. I don't think trying to fight this stupid law will get anywhere.

I further think that it will be mostly men who want to go to the ladies bathroom to see what they can see rather than that being their sexual proclivity.

And, I further think that the ladies can solve the problem by beating the hell out of the perverts.

As far as the men's bathroom is concerned, is a trans-woman goes into one, she is taking a big risk, and I don't need to elaborate.

Trump’s most conservative trait is his ability to distinguish things that are important from things that are not. Would that many here shared that trait.

Conservatism is not wholly defined by one’s willingness to pander on social issues. Defining it that way got us Hastert, Livingstone, and Gingrich - three reasons why, when tried in the court of public opinion, Bill Clinton got away with it. Because his holier-than-thou persecutors turned out to be not so holy after all.

But, Conservatism does not work for conservatives only for the corporate donor class.
