On major difference is that Cruz stated his opposition to the issues such as the cannibus laws and same sex marriage while categorizing them as states rights issues.

Trump's position still appears to be "They use the bathroom that they feel is appropriate" even though he designates it as a states rights issue.

The effect is the same. If you’re for states rights, as Cruz is, as Trump is, and as I am, that will unfortunately allow liberal states to legalize some very unsavory things.

Meanwhile, pretending he’s not for what he’s for allows Cruz to bludgeon Trump on these issues. I have a problem with such blatant double standards, although I see that not everyone else does.
