Here is Tommy Emmanuel at a Masterclass in Australia playing Michelle and Halfway Home. His rendition of Michelle is probably impossible to play. Halfway Home is playable and he teaches how to play it at Truefire.com if you want to learn it. I think Tommy Emmanuel is the best acoustic guitar player alive. Even Chet Atkins said that Tommy Emmanuel was the best. You can't beat that recommendation.

I don’t know how he plays Michelle. The harmonic work is just incredible. I can barely play a simple melody in slow motion using harmonics.

Thanks for the link. I thought I was hot stuff because I can play Classical Gas on a ukulele. That guy can obviously play anything. Now I have to burn my Uke. I still have a mandolin and a banjo.

Every time someone posts a thread like this, it seems inevitable that there will be a dozen replies along the lines of “here’s one that’s better”. Sure, people are entitled to their favorites but there are also some absolute standards of excellence, and IMHO Tommy Emmanuel tops every one of them. Line up all the rest and play them side by side, and I think an objective person will agree with your statement.
Magical it is ....... the skill set is decades in the making. Thats what impresses me about Sandra Bae’s skills acquired at such a young age are very very good as well..... Tommy ....no equal IMHO.

Sandra Bae’s idol is Tommy Emmanuel. She started her career doing covers of his songs. She inspired me to learn Mombasa because I saw a you tube video of her when she was 14 playing it perfectly. I figured, if this 14 year old girl with tiny hands can play that piece, then I can learn it. I did learn it by watching Sandra play it. I’ve been following her ever since.
Would like to hear yer version if ya ever post a you toob soundtrack .......
