Reagan was extraordinarily gifted, in that regard... and, with all due respect to all involved, President Reagan wasn’t a vulgar, blustering blowhard like Mr. Trump is proud to be. Everyone looked at Ronald Reagan and saw a gentleman of sterling character (Reagan derangement syndrome aside), regardless of how much they hated his policies; not so much, with Donald Trump (who’s quite proud to chat about side of gonads, sneer at women as “pigs”, have temper tantrums and threaten lawsuits when he doesn’t get his way, etc.). If he were a student, Trump would have a permanent seat in the detention room, frankly.
If Trump “goes to the people”, only the “choir” will be cheering and supporting him; the rest will roll their eyes, change the channel, spit at the screen, or smash their TV’s. Needless to say, the Nancy Pelosi’s of the world would rather die than “work with him in any bipartisan effort”... unless Trump pushes through some liberal items that they wanted anyway.
Don’t feel sorry for Sean’s guests. Sean is playing to his audience. Those guests know that Sean is giving them free advertising. Beating up on them a little bit is good for the show. I like it when he beats up on those two especially.

Yes, he was... albeit mostly AFTER he took office. But I know of no one who seriously impugned his class or his personal character; no one could seriously call him a crass, vulgar buffoon (which--forgive me--Trump certainly is, and he seems to wear those titles with pride). Trump seems either to be worshipped or held in utter contempt--no real middle ground.
Another difference is that Reagan was very consistent in his positions; Trump is a sort of psychotic weather vane, partially following the wind, and partially following his own passions of the moment... but no one can nail down many of his actual positions on anything, since he's taken most of the positions available.
I won't as I quit listening to him.
The tea party made big inroads into the rePUBlican party in Colorado after Christie sabotaged the conservative candidate for Governor all but installed demoRAT john Chickenpooper. Hanity is trying to destroy the gains in Colorado by making up stuff just like Christie did. Stuff it Hannity, you stink.
