Barrage of Attack Ads Threatens to Undermine Donald Trump
New York Times ^ | April 11, 2016 | NICK CORASANITI and MAGGIE HABERMAN

More than half of the record spending on negative advertising during the 2016 presidential primary has been directed at a single candidate, Donald J. Trump, a barrage that threatens to undermine his candidacy even as he continues to march toward the Republican nomination.

Oh no!!! Not attacks ads. Why that’s never been done before ever.

If you read my comment you'd see that I posted this because the attack adds are backfiring. They are making his support stronger. As alluded to on this thread and elsewhere, republican voters are fed up with GOPe shenanigans.

And before you tell me that more voters have voted against Trump than for him, even more voters have voted against Cruz than for him. So republican voters prefer Trump. Period. End.

Based on what you just said. Republican voters prefer no one.

I think that Trump has the GOPe backed into a corner. To maintain the status quo in DC, they needed JEB in the lead. That cratered, so next up was rubio, who was shot down also. Now they have to resort to Cruz to upset Trump, hoping that they can lead him along through the nomination, and then shut him out in the general election.

If hillary is elected, the status quo is maintained. If bernie is elected, the status quo is maintained. If Cruz, Ryan, or Mittens is elected, the status quo is maintained.

If Trump is elected, their collective heads are on the chopping block, and they know it.

Pretty much the message to the GOP. Hence D. Trump's current popularity. He is the apparent anti GOP candidate.

“Pretty much the message to the GOP. Hence D. Trump’s current popularity.”

he’s garnering 37% of the vote in the primaries. Sorry, but the voters don’t prefer him either.

Yeah, 37 is a low number.

What is R. Cruz's number again?

The entire anti dem coalition is scattered, dejected, and generally fried over the last 8 years of socialism. No one trusts anything the GOP puts up.

D. Trump does not get a majority, but it does appear that more people support him than anyone else at this time.

Going to be interesting next 7 months.

like I said, based on what you are saying, the voters don’t want any of the candidates. Including your boy trump.

You are relying on an online poll? The LEAST reliable polling method? Really? That is desperation.

You are not by yourself!

It is actually having a negative effect. It has made people like me wave good-bye to the republican party. No way I would ever consider myself a republican again after the way these dirtbags have dissed the voters.

Well this is what one should expect living under Cartel Scoialism .. When threatened with losing power - the cartels will do what ever they can to stay in power.

I've already decided to register as independent - not going to be part of a corrupt party.

Strange when you think of it - how the parties changed overtime.. The Democrats used to stand for personal freedom - and the Republicans fiscal responsibility - at first the Democrats became 'cartel socialists' and the republicans neo-cons -- but now the Democrats are true fascists and the Republicans are 'cartel socialists'. Time for a new party..

Trump....the adult? HAhahahaha!!!

Perhaps you should call him and let him know that we are NOT a democracy in the USA. We’re a republic. Only a child would get that mixed up. Only a child would accuse others of fraud and cheating and other nasty things when he loses. An unruly child. Trump needs to be sent back to military school. He obviously didn’t learn a thing the first time.

Sorry, I’m late to the conversation on this one but I’m still struggling with how Not letting the people vote in the Colorado primary is a good thing. I don’t understand why anyone would even consider such a thing.

There is a long sad, deadly and recent history in our world where the vote of the people doesn't matter.

Not letting the people vote in the Colorado primary is a good thing.

Colorado hasn't had a presidential primary since 2000. Starting in 2004, they have selected their delegates the same way they did this year. The only difference is that they usually hold a non-binding presidential preference poll in conjunction with the precinct caucuses. This year they did away with that, because the RNC wanted to require them to be bound by the results. Since the precinct caucuses are held so early, they didn't want delegates to be bound to candidates that were no longer in the race.

"Ask Donald Trump if he thinks negative ads hurt him in Wisconsin," Mr. Murphy said. "Then tell him the Democrats have another half a billion dollars' worth ready to go in the general."

Half billion dollars in negative ads would be even more effective against Cruz, who is unknown to most voters. Their first impressions will be the negative ads. Cruz has benefited greatly from Trump taking all enemy fire, but that will change if he wins the nomination.

Trump might consider running over the top negative ads against himself showing hysterical libtards and GOPe-ers. He can't stop the negative ads but he can turn them into a joke.

Time for a new party.

I'm with you.

Capitalist Party of America starts now.

No convention. No delegates. Run-off primary where the first one to 50% + 1 wins. 5% minimum threshold to advance to the next round. The winner drafts the party platform.

Capitalist Party of America

A better name is the Free Market Party of America. The words Free and Party will completely confuse the gibsmedats. Capitalist was coined by the communists as a derogatory name. Many modern businesses do not require much capital to get started.

I can live with that. Capitalist brings up too many preconceived negative connotations.

I think we have our first three members.
