Local cake decorator denies service to gay wedding, receives social media backlash

ESCANABA, Mich. — An Upper Peninsula cake decorator is in hot water with several Facebook users as a controversial post slowly catching viral waves makes its way through the social network.

A recent status update by Bake It U.P. Cakes explains that the business denied services to a same-sex couple after it was commissioned to decorate a cake for an upcoming wedding. The decorator was unaware it was for a same-sex couple, and as soon as she found out, the business backed out of the transaction. The post states, "This has nothing to do with the person, or the lifestyle they choose. This is about me not participating in the event… I have nothing against this person for their choice in lifestyle. If this person had come to me for any other occasion and needed a cake I would have gladly made one for him."

The post ignited heated debate and fiery exchange from the LGBTQIA community and supporters of gay rights. "I've never tried the cakes, and I don't intend to. I'm bitterly disappointed in this business, as a friend of mine was discriminated against by the owner," said Eli Mai, regarding the incident. "He was refused service because he's gay. I can't believe this kind of blatant and hateful discrimination is legal."

Deliberately cutting yourself off from gays is sad because you are missing out on life. What are you afraid of?

There are many,*many*,things I cut myself off from and I have a rather full and satisfying life.Among the many things I eschew are...drugs....child molesters....Marxists...thieves....moslems...and many other things.

I believe that part of the problem is that no one, or no one alive to tell about it, has come at it from the health and STD angle.

It is more than just STDs. Billions of humans throughout history have died from infections from the improper handling of human waste. Heck, one of the greatest inventions of all human history is what we take granted — the waste treatment plant.

And gays get a sexual thrill from putting body parts in the area that produces this waste? Unbelievable!

What is lost on most people is that these people have some serious mental illness underpinning their "gay-ness."

In general, 40% of them were molested as children, and their number one cause of death is suicide.

How many millions of people died because homosexuals spread AIDS everywhere?

And now they've got another flavor of lunacy running around in their ranks. "Bug Chasers" are tying to get diseases. You are apparently only familiar with the Smurf side of "gayness." There is a deep dark ugly horrible side to it that they work very hard to keep out of public view.

Except of course where they have no fear of the larger public finding out.

My daughter is also gay. She and her partner are both doctors with excellent income. Aside from being gay, they are among the straightest people I know...church-going, sober non-smokers...easily mistaken for conservatives.
They have two adopted children and are giving them a first-rate up-bringing.
Am I to shun them as well?

I belong to three historical collector clubs, each of which has several gay members. If you were also my friend and I invited you to a meeting would you embarrass me by causing public scene? I urge you to re-examine your attitude.

This article (and most that I post about the topic) are about homosexuals forcing Christians (or any averse) to condone their "lifestyle". I personally believe that homosexuality is a mental illness. There is no evidence to the contrary. There is evidence, however, of the concerted effort to institutionalize homosexuality - the homosexualagenda. You can believe whatever you choose. That's the great thing about our country - at least it used to be until the aversion to the homosexual lifestyle essentially became concurrent with bigotry.

The way I see it is that if you hang out a sign to the public you are obligated to serve anyone not disruptive. It is like entrapment to lure in business then tell them to leave for no good reason. That kind of behavior is despicable. Better to also have a large sign saying “no faggots” so they’ll know not to come in in the first place.
Something can only be an illness if it somehow causes harm. My daughter and my friends cause no harm at all...to themselves or anyone else. In fact, my daughter is a blood pathologist and her expertise undoubtedly saves lives and brings much relief. I doubt her patients care about her ‘mental illness’.

As for the gay agenda, it is mostly a front for leftists and other statists. Certainly not all gays subscribe to it. A threat but smaller than the threat posed by Islamists and the big-money bankers.

If she is your daughter, you should aproach her with love. What that entails is tell her what God requires of His people. If she attends church, chances are good they are lying to her. There is not ONE verse that supports a practicing homosexual going to Heaven. Just as a thief must stop stealing and a liar must stop lying, a homosexual must refrain from sex outside of marriage. Now the problem arises as we have redefined marriage from the Biblical definition to a counterfeit definition. There is no misunderstanding what God requires for Biblical marriage. Misunderstanding comes from people who hate God and are under the influence of the evil one. Jesus would have cast out their demon in His day, but today, many don't even believe in demons or even casing them out. I always wondered why someone that is known to have a demon by Christians, they just walk off and leave them in the person.

If you fail to bring them to Christ with your witness, then your next action should in fact be to shun them. Your prayers for your daughter's salvation will connect with the verses Luke 11:5-10. He did not give them what they wanted but for their persistence in asking. I had people praying for me my whole life and finally at 43yo, I came to know the Lord. Entertaining their lifestyle just makes you an "enabler" to their deception. Matthew 19:4-6 defines God's definition of marriage according to the creator of the institution. As they are allowed to remain in strong delusion, time is ticking away on their chance to repent. I know you love your daughter, but agreeing with her delusion doesn't help her. The devil is a liar and a counterfeiter, but that doesn't make a lie the truth.

Go rent or buy the movie "The War Room" and watch it carefully. Spiritual people must be in touch with the Holy Spirit. We are now in the spiritual realm because arguing with their intellect will be blocked by the spirit living in them. I doubt that they will let you cast the demon out as their church probably denies the spiritual realm That Jesus operated in His whole ministry. We have not because we ask not. Arguing with your daughter will eventually make her an enemy anyway. Explain the Truth to her, then start to pray. Pray in expectation. Put your faith in God as nothing is impossible for Him. Don't encourage your daughter's unbelief. Eventually, God will bring her home if she was raised as His daughter. As it is put in the Prodigal Son Parable, "He came to his own mind." in Luke 15:17. It is false for her to say she loves you , yet defies you. You don't owe her approval when she is purposely defying you. There is no sense in meanness, but approval of her choices are not required either. Romans 1:32 tells us that even you are put in danger by supporting her sins. There is a list of sins that include homosexuality and disobedience to parents and the verse says all you have to do is approve of these and you are guilty of them. Jesus tells us that we are to put Him FIRST!! That's over your spouse and children. Don't put your hand to the plow and turn back. He came to divide, not to bring together. He didn't come to bring peace, that will come later. Matthew 10:34-38 tells us plainly to cling to Jesus and not the world. Your daughter belongs to Jesus, not you.

As for you, you have a choice between support for your daughters sin, or God. You cannot serve both! You cannot be double minded. You will love one and hate the other. Turn her over over to God and pray. Pray hard! Pray everyday. I'm praying for you and your daughter as I type this. This is called a "crisis of belief." Every believer has them. it is designed to test your faith. Even Jesus had one in the garden before His death. He asked God to take the cup from Him, even as he knew what was required from the foundation of the world. This was His human side buckling under the weight of what was asked of Him in faith. Of course Jesus's faith was 100% and He bowed to His Father's will. Will you stay with your Father or choose your daughter? That is the spiritual question at hand for you. Can you "Let go and let God", or will you try to cling on to the problem and not lay it at the cross?

This is the left's tact, i.e. "they deny service to homosexuals". That's not the case. If you read her response she said she would be more than happy to provide for goods anything else. These bakers do not want to contribute effort to an event which is against a deeply held belief. Who are you or I to tell anyone otherwise? Should she have to bake a "KKK hang all the n----s cake?"

Threats from without, threats from within. The homosexualagenda is certainly a threat. Yes, not all gays are militant "activists" who shove their lifestyle in everyone's face, but as with Islam - the silent contingent does nothing to combat the aggressiveness of either "agenda".

I almost forgot. I need to tell you one more story.
My son’s wife’s daughter from a previous marriage was certainly mentally ill. She ran away, did drugs and all kinds of things including delivering two autistic children. Then, she killed herself.
Want to know where those two children are? Recall the two lesbians who sued the bakery here in Portland over a wedding cake. Well, those two adopted both the autistic children...a huge, life-long burden. They are both a bit rough, overtly dyke & femmish, and are largely uneducated....a bit ‘low-brow’ (I doubt they’ll see this and I am trying to be really candid). However, I have seen for myself that they are kind-hearted and provide a loving home for those two very unfortunate kids.

NOT TRUE! Jesus said He did not come to do away with the law, but to fulfill it. The law is still the law, but we have GRACE now. Just because we have grace, should we sin more? God forbid! Homosexuality is still wrong and will be judged, just as lying, stealing, fornicating, adultery, pride, ect, ect ect. We have grace to cover for mistakes and slips, but NOT for covering unbelief. If you know homosexuality is wrong, you can keep sodomizing and expect grace to cover it. I even question a person's salvation to even think that. The NT Law is Love the Lord with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength, and your neighbor as yourself. That pretty much covers everything the Law and prophets preached for thousands of years, but it did not do away with it. How would you know what God wants from you without the Law?

If you leave your house to commit fornication and think you can come home and ask forgiveness, you don't have grace, you have judgement. Don't blame God when you end up with an STD, or a divorce, or some other problem when your sin finds you out. If you steal, you are subject to prison, not forgiveness. When you die to your flesh, you are expected to sanctify yourself and become a new creature. A dog returns to his vomit, but a believer should live like they are believers. Lot's wife turned back to admire her past and paid the price. People under the law were condemned from the start. Why would you want to reject grace and go back to the law. If you purpose to sin, you are under the Law again.

If your denomination teaches that homosexuality is under grace, that's just a lie from the devil and you need to flee that teaching. A person knows who they are pulling their pants down in front of. It's not an accident to have sexual sin. If you set out to fornicate, chances are you aren't saved in the first place.
