I'm allergic to hunger, I make sure I avoid it!
One of the increasingly-rare times when The Simpsons took what is, today, a conservative stance: Hey, Don’t Deliberately Get Fat Just To Get Disability.
They've been on the air since 1989.
Something that would have been a gag back then is now reality.
Sometimes I'm surprised that they allow re-runs, as 1989 humor is often forbidden speech in 2016.
As I was "slim" back then, I thought "husky" was something I'd never be.
But I'm a grown man now, and would actually like to be considered "husky".
Instead, I just wear whatever pants fit me.
And it ain't "slim".
You forgot Elvis Presley...
Yep - now a sign of great need instead of wealth - ironic.
I think you are onto part of it. I wear the same size dress slacks and shirts I did in high school and I weigh about 20 pounds less at age 69 then at 18-19. I once was about 25 extra pounds and my BP went sky high. I feel miserable if my stomach is not flat.
Yeah. I always wore husky.
That is impressive. I am probably 40 pounds heavier or more than my weight at 18 years of age. Am definitely not as active as back then. Have a desk job and watch Netflix too much. So for sure understand why America is fatter now.
When each family had their own farm land to cultivate, provided their own food, cut their own wood for heat, etc...t’was a different world but a healthier one. They were the fit and healthy ones compared to now. Society has not benefited in many ways from supposed “progress.”
I think it is all about are you comfortable with that. If so-fine. I have a hard time believing folks who are 100 pounds or more overweight like themselves like that and therefore I wonder if a 250 lb. nurse is going to do the best job? Look at Dr’s. Most seem to be what was normal, but; more and more are getting like the new normal.
