Change your method of thinking. Use patlin's excellent thread/article on the many attempts to change the natural born definition and see what the sponsors wanted to change it to mean/read.

If there is something that applies to somebody then that person is not a natural born citizen as nothing would be needed to be changed to make them one.

More directly...S. 2678 February 28, 2008 To clarify the law and ensure that children born to United States citizens while serving overseas in the military are eligible to become President.

SEC. 2. Definition of “natural born citizen”.
Congress finds and declares that the term “natural born Citizen” in article II, section 1, clause 5 of the Constitution of the United States shall include: “Any person born to any citizen of the United States while serving in the active or reserve components of the United States Armed Forces”.

It never passed, but the change was attempted.
Someone falling under that category is not a natural born citizen as they need a law to make them one.
Does that include McCain?
