Ted Cruz Names Friends, but Silence From G.O.P. Brass Deafens
NY Times ^ | March 27, 2016 | JONATHAN MARTIN and MATT FLEGENHEIMER

Ted Cruz was naming friends.

Seated for an interview inside a stately Midtown Manhattan library, just south of Trump Tower, the Texas senator leaned forward in his chair, ticking off the unlikely coalition drifting his way.

While the Romney and Bush endorsements drew headlines, what has been just as striking is the sound of silence from the vast majority of Republican elected officials and leading donors. Nearly two weeks after Senator Marco Rubio dropped out of the race, there has been no mass rush to Mr. Cruz, even as he appears to be the last line of defense against a Trump nomination.

Always seemed to be the case. They knew, full well, he was compromised.

Romney went on to endorse Kasich as well - so Cruz was a very quickly dropped hot potato by the GOPe.

They are using him to block Trump and create a contested convention.

I will only say this at this point.

One guy knows damn well whether these charges are true or not.

If they are, he should save his family more embarrassment.

If they aren’t, then fight it out.

If he does fight it out, and it is found that he lied here, he’ll probably never hold any office other than the one he has now, and by rights that should be in jeopardy too.

We have all been surprised by a few of the endorsements that went Trump’s way.

Schlafley, Sessions, Carson, maybe a few others...

I wonder if these folks knew things were going to come out about Ted, or if they just naturally backed Trump.

Inquiring minds...

CRUZ in on Fox now. Sounds like a RUBIO CLONE, typical politician speak. I can’t stand the guy now. He’s deflecting all talk about his alleged affairs which indicates he’s LYING about the whole affair(s). This guy is NOT what he claims to be.

If he puts his hand on the Bible and says he never cheated on his wife and never had sex with any of these women, wake me up. But I’m looking for an uninterrupted nights sleep.

Crus may as well be reading John Edwards or Bill Clinton’s denial statements. Remember how many times we were told this was garbage and how he had to get back to “doing the work of the people”. Lyin’ Ted.

I don’t think anyone expects Cruz to be the nominee, much less the POTUS. So, like Carly, cash up front is required for any endorsement.

He did not come close to 50% in the Texas primary. I would be worried about 2018 if I were Cruz.

Yes, he got 43.8% there.

I don’t honestly know how to read that.

Trump plus Rubio beat him. (27.7+17.7=44.4) (Kasich 4.2, Carson 4.2)

In a two man race, he might have trouble.

“He did not come close to 50% in the Texas primary. I would be worried about 2018 if I were Cruz.”

It actually set a new benchmark for -weakness- :

http://editions.lib.umn.edu/smartpolitics/2016/03/02/cruz-records-weakest-home-state-gop-primary-victory-in-party-history/

And that was before this scandal, embracing Mormon prophecy, expressing an amorous inclination towards rats and other examples of Raphaelite charm.

“but Silence From G.O.P. Brass Deafens”

That’s because the smart money is one Trump winning the nomination AND the Presidency, and the great bulk of ordinary elected officials are NOT part of the GOPe aristocracy and have little to win by opposing Trump and much to gain by not opposing him.

It’s mainly the GOPe movers and shakers that stand to lose when Trump wins the Presidency, not the little guys that forced to take orders from the “leadership”.

If the little guys REALLY thought Trump had no chance, they’d be lining up against him quicker than you can say Jim Robinson.
